Vista sull'imponente sbarramento sul Fiume Po, la Diga Serafini, che serve per creare un'invaso a bacino per alimentare la Centrale Idroelettrica Carlo Bobbio di ENELGREENPOWER, oggi la piu' potente delle centrali ad acqua fluente in Italia. Lo sbarramento della Diga Serafini e' composto da un'imponente struttura in calcestruzzo situata sul fiume Po tra Piacenza e Cremona, è stata realizzata negli anni '60 con uno sbarramento a traversa mobile che forma un'invaso a bacino di 12km di sviluppo, poco piu' a monte della confluenza con il Fiume Adda. La traversa mobile presenta 11 luci ciascuna dell'ampiezza di 30 m, che sono intercalate da pile dello spessore di 3,20 mt, la lunghezza dell'opera è quindi di 362 m, mentre la larghezza, misurata tra le estremità di monte e di valle delle pile, è di 34,30 mt,il livello normale di ritenuta è a 41,00 m s.l.m, quota alla quale l'invaso non interessa le zone golenali, restando contenuto nell'alveo ordinario del fiume. Le luci dello sbarramento sono intercettate da paratoie piane a scorrimento verticale, sei delle quali sormontate da ventole ad abbattimento automatico, su azione diretta dell'acqua, l'altezza totale di ritenuta è quindi di 6,50 mt per 9 paratoie e di 8,00 mt per le restanti 2 di sponda destra, allo scopo di dissipare, anche nelle più gravose condizioni di esercizio, l'energia dell'acqua affluente da sotto le paratoie, la platea della traversa è profilata a vasca di smorzamento.
