Grazie Ooo! Sorriso

Cool

Thanks Ooo! :-)

The rocks from which jumps the waterfall are basalts. Rock that solidify when magma comes out on the surface (effusive rock). With the sale of the heat the crystals within the zone will accrue according lattices ordered and each with different speeds. As a consequence the magma goes contracting, that fracture originating the typical hexagonal columns.
This type of rock, is not easily attacked chemically by water (such as limestones eg.). The fact remains, however, that the energy generated from the water after the jump is vastly higher than before. Also the water in its course carries debris that swooping down contributes to shaping the rocks. This may explain the greater erosive action piedthe waterfall. :-)

But this is only my guess, not a doctor Geologist! -D

The fact is that when you stand in front of these beauties you'd think that the great architect is Nature! 8-)
