Nel centro di Roma si può visitare uno dei quartieri più caratteristici della città. Un angolo di Roma dalle fattezze inaspettate e bizzarre, un fantastico miscuglio di arte Liberty, Art Decò, con infiltrazioni di arte greca, gotica, barocca e addirittura medievale. È un quartiere lontano dai classici circuiti turistici, è ricco di ambasciate da quella del del Sud Africa, a quelle del Marocco e della Bolivia. Il quartiere ruota tutto intorno a piazza Mincio (nel quartiere Trieste) ed ha preso il nome dall' architetto Gino Coppedè, che lo ha progettato in un periodo che va dal 1915 al 1927. La Fontana delle Rane e il Palazzo del Ragno (nella foto) è al centro di piazza Mincio e risale al 1924. Si dice che l'architetto Gino Coppedè prese spunto dalla fontana delle tartarughe del Bernini, presente nel ghetto. Questa fontana è anche famosa per via del bagno che i Beatles vi fecero vestiti dopo un loro concerto tenuto nella vicina discoteca Piper. A destra della fontana delle rane, in Piazza Mincio 4, c'è il Palazzo detto “del Ragno” che deve il nome alla decorazione sul portone d'ingresso, un grosso ragno appunto a simboleggiare l'operosità. Costruito da Coppedè nel 1920, il palazzo è suddiviso in quattro piani e una torretta. Al terzo livello, sopra un balconcino con loggia, c'è un dipinto color ocra e nero raffigurante un cavallo sormontato da una incudine tra due grifoni e una grande scritta in latino LABOR.
