at 200mm, 1/250 f/8.0, ISO 100, hand held.

A rocky seer that fascinates.
Bello shot and caption that takes us back to yesterday's moments and the strategic importance that represented these peaks.

Francesco :-P if you come back to read the answer go and look at the second photograph of the gallery, from there you will see the dimensions of this rocky detail that looks great but is a small detail of the great Paterno ;-)
Mauro :-P thank you for the nice comment :-)
Luci :-P thanks for the "beautiful" appreciation of the caption and photo :-)

Beautiful photo like all, I'll tear you up with a laugh but you know I was born in Paterno' and I don't remember this door.

Peter you know the combination which I use a lot of cell phone because the computer i turn it on little, so when I wrote the title the keyboard suggested me the name "Paternò not Paterno :-D "As you see something well-founded there was, even I do not know anything about this door and digging thoroughly who knows if some young Man sent to these mountains to fight for the ideal of the great leaders has ever passed it :-/
A very dear greeting Peter :-P

Image that along with the caption makes you think a lot about what was, unfortunately, the first war.

Jancuia :-P thanks for the double 'great' and compliment :-)
Gianni :-P thank you for the attention paid to photography and caption, we can all imagine the cruelty of that war that saw hundreds of thousands of deaths in the trenches of the Alps on both sides, visiting those places with trenches still there to witness the hard life of those boys who had to suffer artillery attacks, machine guns, snipers, assaults on the white weapon, not to forget the hunger, the cold, the rain the diseases with the arrival of the Spaniard who decimated soldiers all over the world, all this makes us think a lot.
A very dear greeting to both :-D
