Nelle scorse settimane ho già fatto qualche breve esplorazione notturna per cercare le tracce degli animali che dopo l'inverno uscivano dalle tane. Ora finalmente è arrivato il periodo dell'anno che preferisco, il 24 aprile ho ricominciato le lunghe esplorazioni notturne. Appena è arrivato il buio ho iniziato ad osservare attentamente il terreno, c'erano tante chiocciole e lumache, ho visto alcune falene e alcune specie di ragni. Con mio grande stupore ho visto anche due piccoli gechi verrucosi che erano usciti dalle tane. Ho camminato avanti e indietro per più di due ore, quando all'improvviso ho sentito un rumore e ho incontrato a pochi passi dalla porta di casa questo riccio maschio appallottolato. Era ben mimetizzato nel terreno e per fotografarlo l'ho delicatamente spostato nell'orto. Dopo averlo fotografato per pochi minuti ho notato qualcosa di grave: ha due ferite ai lati della testa e quando si è aperto ho visto anche che gli manca una zampa posteriore. È stato attaccato da qualche animale, forse un cane, non credo sia stata la volpe perché lei sa bene come fare. Così è finita la prima notte di esplorazione, ho preso delicatamente il riccio e l'ho portato casa, dopo un'attenta osservazione ho visto altre piccole ferite sul dorso. Perdeva un po' di sangue ma dopo aver curato una alla volta le ferite va molto meglio. Ora sono passati 4 giorni e sta migliorando, purtroppo a causa della zampa mancante cammina più lentamente e se lasciato in natura non potrà resistere ad un altro attacco. Intanto in questi giorni sto continuando le esplorazioni e ho fotografato altri animali, cercherò di mostrarveli nelle prossime settimane. Non ho molto tempo per guardare le foto perché sono sempre in natura giorno e notte. Ieri sera alle 23 ho trovato la tana del riccio a 200 metri da casa. Lì vicino ho incontrato una femmina, anche lei con una ferita sul dorso, più piccola e superficiale rispetto a quelle del maschio. I ricci si accoppiano in primavera e in estate quindi ho controllato bene la tana e il terreno circostante in cerca dei piccoli, ma è ancora presto. L'ho portata a casa per curarla, poi ho spostato la coppia nel prato per fotografarli insieme. Appena potrò vi mostrerò nuove foto dei ricci e vi dirò come procede la guarigione. Cerco sempre di aiutare tutti gli animali, i ricci sono sempre più rari e non hanno vita facile a causa delle volpi e di tanti altri pericoli.
