Palazzo Carignano è un bellissimo edificio affacciato sulla splendida Piazza Carignano, in pieno centro storico di Torino. Il palazzo fu progettato dal celebre architetto modenese Guarino Guarini per volere di Emanuele Filiberto Il Muto. I lavori di costruzione del palazzo iniziarono nel 1679 e terminarono nel 1685. Dieci anni più tardi l'edificio divenne la dimora ufficiale dei Principi di Carignano, ramo cadetto di casa Savoia. Lo rimase fino al 1831 quando venne ceduto al Demanio e ospitò il Consiglio di Stato. Successivamente, nel 1848, Palazzo Carignano divenne la sede della Camera dei deputati del Parlamento Subalpino. Palazzo Carignano è uno dei più importanti edifici di Torino, insieme al Palazzo Reale e a Palazzo Madama, e fa parte inoltre delle residenze sabaude patrimonio dell'Unesco. Dal punto di vista architettonico, Palazzo Carignano è uno degli esempi più belli di Barocco italiano. La facciata del palazzo dalla parte di Piazza Carignano è in cotto ed ha uno stile curvilineo in un gioco di alternanze di parti concave e parti convesse. Alcuni studiosi ritengono che Guarino Guarini, per questa facciata, si sia ispirato ai progetti del Bernini per il Palazzo del Louvre. La facciata posteriore, che fu costruita alla fine dell'800, ha uno stile eclettico caratterizzato dall'utilizzo di pietra bianca e stucco rosa, bellissime colonne ed un porticato. L'interno del palazzo è ricco di affreschi, stucchi e decorazioni. Oggi Palazzo Carignano è sede del Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano di Torino, all'interno del quale è possibile ammirare numerosi reperti, dipinti, armi, vessilli ed uniformi dell'epoca per ripercorrere un importante pezzo della storia italiana ed europea. In questo museo è possibile vedere inoltre, la Camera dei deputati del Parlamento Subalpino, monumento nazionale dal 1898 ed unico esempio originale in tutto il mondo delle aule parlamentari istituite dopo le rivoluzioni del 1848. Inoltre dal 2011, grazie al sostegno della Compagnia di San Paolo, è stato aperto un percorso di visita agli Appartamenti dei Principi di Carignano. https://www.guidatorino.com.
