Il santuario di Nostra Signora di Lourdes è un complesso religioso situato nell' omonima cittadina , nel sud ovest della Francia , all' interno del quale viene venerata la Vergine Maria , che sarebbe apparsa a Bernadette Soubirous per diciotto volte nel 1858 . Massabielle , il luogo delle apparizioni , è una piccola grotta che rappresenta il luogo centrale del santuario . All'interno della grotta si trova una sorgente le cui acque sono utilizzate per il bagno nelle piscine , in una sorta di rinnovamento del battesimo . Bernadette , una pastorella analfabeta allora quattordicenne , riferì l' apparizione di " una piccola signora giovane " la cui identità rimase sconosciuta fino alla penultima visione quando la fanciulla le domandò ripetutamente , su insistente richiesta del parroco , di rivelare il suo nome ; l' apparizione le rispose , in dialetto occitano , “ Que soy era Immaculada Councepciou “. ( letteralmente " Io sono l' Immacolata Concezione " ) . Bernadette raccontò di non aver compreso il significato di quelle parole e di essere stata capace di riferirle solo perché , mentre correva dal parroco , le aveva continuamente ripetute tra sé e sé . Quest' ultimo rimase dapprima sconcertato , poi si persuase dell'origine divina degli eventi in corso . Le visioni che la giovane avrebbe avuto sono state accettate dalla Chiesa cattolica , dopo attente analisi e la raccolta di testimonianze dirette , come eventi miracolosi , manifestazioni della Beata Vergine Maria . Bernadette , turbata dall'interesse richiamato su di sé , si ritirò nel convento delle Suore della Carità di Nevers dove trascorse gli ultimi anni della sua breve esistenza ; minata dalla malattia morì all'età di 35 anni nel 1879 e fu canonizzata nel 1933 . La quotidiana processione della sera nel Santuario di Nostra Signora di Lourdes , conosciuta anche come fiaccolata , avvenne per la prima volta il 18 febbraio 1858 , giorno della terza apparizione , quando un gruppo di persone seguì Bernadette con delle candele ; una seconda processione venne fatta nel maggio 1858 , mentre la fiaccolata che si svolge attualmente venne effettuata a partire 1872 . La visita del santuario , il bagno nell' acqua della sorgente , la partecipazione alla processione della sera rappresentano un' esperienza toccante sia per i numerosissimi credenti , sia per molti di coloro che , pur non avendo il dono della fede , riconoscono con umiltà il mistero e coltivano la speranza . #Santuari #LuoghiDiCulto
