Il Forte di Bard è un'imponente struttura militare realizzata nella prima metà del XIX secolo, posta alla sommità di una rocca all'ingresso della Valle d'Aosta. Grazie ad un articolato intervento di recupero, la fortezza è stata trasformata nel 2006 in un polo culturale e turistico, sede di musei, esposizioni, eventi, servizi informativi e d'accoglienza d'avanguardia. Da questa sommità si gode un panorama mozzafiato, dove lo sguardo spazio all'infinito fino in fondo valle, disseminato di piccoli paesi. A soli 3 chilometri, troviamo Arnad, famosa capitale del lardo, prodotto a denominazione di origine controllata che si ottiene dalla lavorazione della schiena del maiale adeguatamente sgrassata e dalla successiva maturazione nei "doils", antichi recipienti in legno di castagno o di rovere. Proseguendo si arriva a Pont Saint Martin, lasciandosi a sud, Vérres, famosa per il Castello degli Challant e ad est, Gressoney-La trinité con Castel Savoia, dimora estiva della regina Margherita.
