Affacciata su piazza Farnese, di cui completa la quinta scenografica, la chiesa porta il nome di santa Brigida, al secolo Birgitta Persson, una nobile svedese nata in un piccolo paese vicino Stoccolma e arrivata a Roma nel 1349, dopo aver fondato l'ordine monastico del Santissimo Salvatore. La piccola chiesa a lei dedicata fu costruita nel 1391.
