Rue des Pretres Saint Severin, è una strada del quartiere Latino. Qui si respira l'autentica aria parigina, C'è un'atmosfera particolare, è bello passeggiare in queste strade perché bevi fino in fondo quasi fosse un filtro magico, tutto il fascino della Ville Lumière. Ma a proposito perché “Ville Lumière, ossia “la città delle luci”? Per due motivi la capitale francese fu una delle prime a portare la luce per le strade. E ancor oggi, si viene rapiti da queste luci, dai giochi luminosi di colori della Torre Eiffel, dell'Arco di Trionfo, per non parlare delle luci dei vicoli di Saint Germain e dei lungosenna. Il secondo motivo si riferisce a quel grande movimento innovatore settecentesco che fu l'Illuminismo. Parigi non ha illuminato solo le sue strade e le sue piazze, ma anche la mente di moltissima gente. Lo scopo dell'Illuminismo fu appunto quello di riformare la Francia, e il resto d'Europa liberandola dalle idee conservatrici dell'Ancien règime e attuando una vera e propria riforma sociale sotto la guida della ragione.
