L'abbazia di Chiaravalle (in latino, Sanctæ Mariæ Clarævallis Mediolanensis, conosciuta anche come Santa Maria di Roveniano) è un complesso monastico cistercense situato nel Parco agricolo Sud Milano, tra il quartiere Vigentino e il quartiere Rogoredo. Fondata nel XII secolo da san Bernardo di Chiaravalle come filiazione dell'Abbazia di Clairvaux, attorno a essa si sviluppò un borgo agricolo, annesso al comune di Milano nel 1923. La chiesa costituisce uno dei primi esempi di architettura gotica in Italia, e grazie alle bonifiche dei terreni e alle opere idrauliche dei monaci che la abitavano, fu fondamentale per lo sviluppo economico della bassa milanese nei secoli successivi alla sua fondazione.
