The Royal Castle in Warsaw - a baroque-classicist royal castle from the 14th century. Since the 16th century, the seat of the authorities of the First Polish Republic: the king and the Sejm. Black and white inserts show the view of the castle before the war and the remains of the castle blown up by German troops on November 27, 1944. This happened on Hitler's orders. Photo of the ruins taken in mid-1945. The main photo I took shows the current condition. The reconstruction of the castle lasted from 1971 to 1984. Interesting facts: in 1766, the famous Venetian painter Bernardo Bellotto, called Canaletto, came to Warsaw to paint a series of 30 paintings depicting the city, including a panorama of the castle. Images can be seen online. In 1544, the Castle hosted for two months the Queen of Poland from 1518, Bona Sforza d'Aragona, and the Polish King, her husband Sigismund I the Old. It is worth adding that until 1980, the reconstruction of the facility was financed mainly from private funds, thanks to donations from Poles from Poland and abroad. However, the equipment is largely a reconstruction of the original furniture, which was recreated thanks to photos. In the same year, the Old Town and the castle were included on the UNESCO World Heritage List
