La mitica TI-30 della Texas Instruments con display 8 cifre a matrice LED fu prodotta nel 1976 ma già nel 1978 fu sostituita con analogo modello dotato di un anonimo display a 10 cifre con cristalli LCD perdendo così la sua peculiare caratteristica. La TI-30 è stata una delle prime calcolatrici scientifiche di basso/medio livello commercializzata a prezzi accessibilissimi, la prima ad essere dotata di un unico chip che svolgeva tutte le funzioni di calcolo.
