Facciamo un altro giro nel profondo cielo. In questo scatto, frutto di due notti di lavoro, state osservando le magnifiche nebulosità che si estendono nei pressi di WR 134. Con WR 134 si identifica una precisa stella di tipo “Wolf Rayet” lontana circa 5700 anni luce dal sole e circondata da molte nebulosità ricche di idrogeno ionizzato H II e Ossigeno doppiamente ionizzato O3. Che cos'è una stella di Wolf Rayet?? Le stelle di questa classe sono incredibilmente luminose, centinaia di migliaia di volte più del Sole. La particolarità di queste stelle è data dal fatto che perdono massa a ritmi elevati per mezzo di venti stellari molto intensi e veloci (fino a oltre 2000 km/s). Stelle di questo tipo sono molto rare: ne sono conosciute poche centinaia in tutto il GRUPPO LOCALE? il gruppo di galassie di cui fa parte la nostra Via Lattea, la galassia di Andromeda, la galassia del triangolo, le due nubi di Magellano etc..). Le fortissime turbolenze intorno la stella WR 134 unitamente all'enorme perdita di massa che l 'astro continua a subire hanno dato vita alla nebulosa che la circonda e che state osservando al centro della foto.
