Era fine settembre, dopo un'estate afosa e siccitosa erano arrivate le prime piogge autunnali, l'ambiente era molto umido e il terreno era fangoso. Questo è il periodo migliore per le mie esplorazioni, dopo le piogge tanti animali escono dalle loro tane per accoppiarsi, cacciare o rinfrescarsi. Stavo esplorando attentamente il terreno quando vidi questo piccolo rospo, saltellava velocemente intorno ad una delle pozze d'acqua che avevo posizionato per aiutare gli animali a sopravvivere al caldo. Mi sdraiai nel fango vicino a lui e rimasi fermo ad osservarlo per fargli capire che non ero un pericolo per lui. Quella notte lo osservai per molte ore, il piccolo rospo era molto incuriosito dalla mia presenza e mentre lo fotografavo saltò molte volte sulla macchina fotografica. I rospi sono molto rari nel mio terreno, anche quest'anno sono in arrivo mesi di caldo e siccità, le pozze sono sempre pronte al loro posto e spero di essere d'aiuto per molti animali.
