Ogni anno allevo tantissimi lepidotteri per proteggere le specie e preservare l'ecosistema della natura. Tra le specie più comuni c'è la Pieris brassicae, i bruchi si nutrono di Asteraceae e Brassicaceae, soprattutto cavoli e broccoli, per questo sono considerati dannosi per le colture e spesso uccisi. Per allevare i lepidotteri controllo ogni giorno tutte le piante in cerca di uova e bruchi. A novembre dello scorso anno ho trovato sotto le foglie dei broccoli più di 250 uova di Pieris brassicae, ho osservato di nuovo tutte le fasi della loro vita e sono riuscito a fotografare questa crisalide poche ore prima della nascita. In questa foto potete osservare dettagliatamente tutte le sue particolarità. La crisalide è diventata quasi trasparente, sono già visibili gli occhi composti e la spirotromba non è arrotolata, ma è posizionata verticalmente lungo il corpo fino all'addome. Anche antenne e le zampe sono, piegate in avanti, ai lati della spirotromba. Rimango sempre incantato ad osservare i bellissimi colori delle crisalidi. La scorsa settimana, sempre sui broccoli, ho trovato altri 400 bruchi; erano piccolissimi, li ho raccolti molto delicatamente e posizionati a piccoli gruppi nei contenitori. Crescono molto velocemente e manca poco alla metamorfosi.
