Da: Ciociaria turismo.it - Le Botteghe della Regina Camilla a Castro dei Volsci. L'Associazione Culturale La Scarana nasce nel 2018 con l'intento di preservare e divulgare alcuni aspetti della cultura tradizionale locale. Le conoscenze, le abilità manuali, l'estro dei nostri predecessori rappresentano il campo di interesse principale per l'attività che l'associazione vuole condurre attraverso la rivisitazione di antichi mestieri ed espressioni artistiche. I soci provengono da diverse estrazioni culturali e lavorative , tutti accomunati dall'amore per l'artigianato e la creazione artistica unica. Le attività che l'associazione propone sono diverse: organizzazione di eventi culturali, allestimenti di degustazioni tipiche, visite guidate in luoghi di rilevanza culturale e turistica, laboratori didattici. Ma il progetto principale dell'associazione è quello denominato Le Botteghe della Regina Camilla che ha lo scopo di riattualizzare abilità manuali che oggi potrebbero apparire antieconomiche ed anacronistiche con l'intento di promuovere il turismo nel nostro territorio valorizzando l'artigianato e le sue tradizioni, di modo che possano arrivare a rappresentare per noi delle vere eccellenze. Per attuarlo è stata individuata come location il borgo medievale di Castro dei Volsci dove ci sono ancora diverse botteghe antiche dislocate lungo la Via Civita. Proprio in queste botteghe tutte le domeniche gli aderenti al progetto, artigiani per passione, si ritrovano ed espongono i loro manufatti, ma non solo, mostrano anche i processi produttivi e le tecniche di lavorazione specifiche. Ad oggi sono operativi circa 15 soci in 6 botteghe, tutte contraddistinte dalla medesima insegna ed allestite con criteri filologici per quanto più possibile. I prodotti che si possono trovare spaziano dai suppellettili in legno e ceramica, gioielli della tradizione, ricami e merletti, uncinetto, dipinti ad acquerello ed incisioni, cucito creativo e i prodotti della tradizione gastronomica locale.
