In my case it is black (apart from that green spot that, as you rightly suggested, I should have cloned) because there was a light so strong that I had to set to -2 stops; in the end it was an advantage because the dark background created a contrast with the green of the mantis.
Think that mantis fell on me without me noticing and I found myself walking on my neck while I was in the car! :-( I took it with a rag and then placed it on the first place I found, a trunk dirty with earth, not the max as a roost.

Mi sembra un ottimo scatto con una buona definizione sul soggetto e sul posatoio! Lo sfondo rappresenta la sua corretta ambientazione. Nel mio caso è nero (a parte quella macchia verde che, come mi hai giustamente suggerito, avrei dovuto clonare) perchè c'era una luce talmente forte che ho dovuto impostare a -2 stop; alla fine è stato un vantaggio perchè il fondo scuro ha creato un contrasto col verde della mantide.
Pensa che quella mantide mi è caduta addosso senza che me ne accorgessi e me la sono ritrovata a camminare sul mio collo mentre ero in auto! L'ho presa con uno straccio e quindi l'ho appoggiata sul primo posto che ho trovato, un tronco sporco di terriccio grigio, non il max come posatoio.
