Nel mio recente viaggio in Norvegia avevo programmato un'escursione sul Mt. Segla, nell'isola di Senja. Si tratta di una delle mete più spettacolari di quella zona, una salita non troppo lunga ma abbastanza ripida e piuttosto faticosa, almeno alla mia età con tutta l'attrezzatura sulle spalle. Il tempo era piuttosto incerto ma essendo l'ultimo giorno del viaggio ho deciso di intraprendere ugualmente la salita (un po' meno di 2 ore) alla sera per avere una luce migliore, dato che a quella latitudine in questa stagione il sole non tramonta mai. Giunto in vetta sono stato ripagato non solo dalle meravigliose viste sul Mefjord e sulle montagne circostanti ma dallo straordinario e raro fenomeno ottico dello spettro di Brocken: con il sole basso all'orizzonte alle spalle e per la presenza di una bruma sottile attorno alla cima vedevo proiettata la mia ombra ingigantita circondata da una specie di iride circolare. Questa apparizione strana e un po' inquietante è durata pochi minuti, giusto il tempo per scattare qualche foto, ma resterà impressa a lungo nella mia mente.
