Le colline Pisane, come gran parte d'Italia, una volta erano completamente ricoperte da boschi vetusti. L'aumento della popolazione ha provocato l'aumento delle superfici coltivate con il relativo taglio dei boschi. Solo negli angoli più remoti o acclivi sono restati dei fazzoletti di vegetazione naturale. Quasi mai si rinvengono piante di grandi dimensioni. Questa quercia secolare vicino ad Orciatico è una bella eccezione e ho pensato di proporvela.
