Porta Canarda è una delle otto porte medievali di accesso e di difesa della città di Ventimiglia . Eretta intorno al XII secolo sull' antico tracciato che la Via Iulia Augusta percorreva verso la Gallia , si presenta sovrastata da una torre di guardia che ospitava un avamposto militare . È situata nella parte occidentale della città , fuori dalle mura di cinta , dove controllava una posizione strategica sull' antica strada romana . Sulla facciata ovest spicca un bassorilievo in marmo con le armi dei conti di Ventimiglia e una lapide che ricorda il passaggio di illustri personaggi .
