Thank you first of all for sharing such a familiar photo; the picture as a whole produces a sense of widespread affection, on the other hand I believe that beauty is in the eyes of those who believe in it.
Good evening my dear, an affectionate thought for those who have been so important

Nothing to say about the composition, nor about the choice to keep the red of the flowers. It is above all a beautiful sepia tone and a loving and respectful filial tribute.

A truly commendable idea that fully conveys affection towards your parents.
Expressing a judgment of merit from the outside becomes difficult as you enter into the deepest personal, the one you mention in the presentation.
I would only say that this scene represents a moment of life of your family, intimate, spontaneous, like that hand on the shoulder, that tender embrace that unites them, and the presence of the two "little angels" seems in fact to belong originally to that photo.
If you feel all this in your soul, go on like this: modifying to satisfy the taste of others will always lead over time to the remorse of not having followed your feelings to the end.
A cordial
greetingIvan

Run and Ivan, thank you very much for dwelling on this image of mine that I created over twenty years ago, ignoring then that in 2022 it would become "the main papabile" for the tombstone to my parents; in addition to wanting a great good, respect each other and be united and supportive ... they had a shared loving-kindness for the care of the flowers around the house: only now that the most varied weeds surround me perpetually everywhere, the memory of their flowers in the flower beds, in the pots, in the garden, at any time of the year, excites me and moves me:... the red cyclamen were therefore a must.

I really like the image because of the "maglionciacci", they give that touch of everyday life that is the essence of life. You can opine on the cut on the head of brother and sister, but you have made a choice and I would carry it forward. It is a very touching image as well as the story. A warm greeting Raffaele.

8-) Thanks Raffaele, W i maglionacci 8-) ! yes, indeed... the cuts of the heads are... a mistake of my youth 8-) ... that is, when (decades ago) I made the image, almost for fun .... of contemporary there is the intervention on the color of the cyclamen (which I wanted bright red 8-) ) and then on the general color tone of the image. Thank you very much for the passage of the comment left me, hello, a warm greeting, giancarlo

Is there anything perfect man-made?
If there was that missing piece of head of you grandchildren it was better, it would not have distracted more than a moment from the image of your grandparents and, in any case, you can see the same. In the end nothing is missing of your feeling, excellent the ancient sepia color that recalls the past time and the photo at the time made on the fly without worrying about changing clothes when, instead, the important thing was their union.
Greetings and Happy May Day
Maurizio

Thank you Maurizio for your words 8-) 8-) 8-) well, to your starting question (going far beyond my modest image ...) I would answer yes: mathematics; the laws of Galileo, Newton, Einstein; the music of Mozart, Bach, Morricone.... art, poetry... 8-) .... hello, a warm greeting, giancarlo
@Maurizio: 8-) ... but it is the image of my parents, not my grandparents .... and behind it is me as a child and my sister as a child 8-) : for now "time, its inexorable flow" we suffer it without alternatives ....

I don't know what decision you made and whatever it is, if shared with your sister, it's the best.
I reach you with a small comment. Your parents are beautiful like that. They are true, authentic. It is them and not a projection of the "socially desirable" image. This is your memory and the people who loved them remember them like this, committed, authentic, united.
May they rest in peace

8-) Thank you very much Gabbia;.... yes, they were so and so we will remember them; .... surely you would not have imagined so much post-mortem celebrity .... but, all in all, he probably would also have liked it.... with all the sacrifices they made to make me study.... if I'm not a doctor... at least I do some passable photographs :-P
