Il Teatro Romano è una struttura edificata a Ventimiglia (IM) tra il II e il III secolo nella parte occidentale della città ligure ; di forma semicircolare è rivestita in gran parte con una pietra calcarea bianca proveniente dalla Turbie , località sopra Monaco . Si accedeva al teatro dall'entrata ovest che è quasi intatta e rappresenta la parte meglio conservata del monumento , mentre è andata perduta la parte superiore della cavea . Poteva accogliere un massimo di duemila spettatori che assistevano a spettacoli principalmente di commedia , danza e mimo . È uno dei più piccoli nel suo genere , cadde in stato di abbandono nel IV secolo e fu riportato alla luce nel corso del XIX secolo da Girolamo Rossi e in seguito da Pietro Barocelli negli anni dieci del XX secolo e da Nino Lamboglia nei decenni successivi ( liberamente tratto da Wikipedia ) . #Teatro #Archeologia
