Siamo giunti alla seconda tappa del percorso che ci condurrà alla cima del Monte Penna. Prima di entrare nel cuore del bosco caratterizzato dalla presenza di tante e grandi piante, dovremo attraversare un breve tratto terreno poco vegeto con molti grossi massi che fuoriescono dal terreno. La presenza di tanto sasso e grossi scogli è la peculiarità principale del Monte sacro della Verna, lo aveva ben notato Dante Alighieri già ad inizio '300, infatti definirà questo luogo nella sua Commedia "crudo sasso". Sassi e grossi massi che a volte sembrano sculture accompagneranno la nostra salita fino alla cima del Monte Penna, lasciando che le trame delle radici dei faggi disegnino uno scenario unico e affascinante.
