Gli antichi Greci identificavano l'arcobaleno, questo bellissimo fenomeno, con la divinità, Iris (o Iride), la messaggera dalle ali dorate. Iris, dea e personificazione dell'arcobaleno, era dotata di piedini veloci cinti da calzari alati, di grandi ali d'oro e del caduceo che le serviva per sgombrare le nubi. Era dunque una messaggera degli dei dell'Olimpo, rappresentava il percorso dal cielo alla terra coronato di bellissimi colori. Iris era una bellissima fanciulla caratterizzata dalla dolcezza e dai tratti raffinati, vestita con chitoni di gocce iridescenti, tali che lasciavano al suo passaggio una scia di mille colori nella volta celeste fino a disegnare l'arcobaleno. -L'Iris porta la bellezza del paradiso in terra. Ci invita a far risplendere le nostre unicità, i nostri veri colori (da iris deriva la parola iridescenza) a coltivare la speranza, la fede e la purezza. Rappresenta la trasformazione, l'armonia, l'equilibrio fra qualità femminili e maschili. Infatti se i petali sono morbidi e delicati, le foglie sono simili ad una spada. L'energia dell'Iris ci viene in aiuto quando desideriamo entrare in uno stato di contemplazione, sviluppare le nostre capacità pschiche e connetterci con gli altri mondi. Fiore simmetrico, si compone di tre petali interni eretti e tre petali esterni ricadenti. A livello spirituale invita a superare il dualismo corpo materia e ad espandere i confini mentali.
