Forse in molti non sanno che in Sicilia esiste una minoranza etnica e linguistica lombarda: un gruppo consistente di persone che non parla la lingua siciliana, che vive nell'isola e che ha una storia antichissima che proviene da altre regioni d'Italia. Tuttavia i sei principali e più conservati centri della minoranza linguistica gallo-italico restano Nicosia, Piazza Armerina, Aidone, Sperlinga, San Fratello e Novara di Sicilia, che pertanto si caratterizzano per la loro parlata alloglotta gallo-italico. La parlata gallo-italico viene ancora usata nei rapporti interpersonali a Nicosia, Sperlinga, San Fratello e Novara di Sicilia.
