Trullo Sovrano: Casa museo ad Alberobello Lo storico Giuseppe Notarnicola riferisce che l'edificio era in origine denominato Corte Papa Cataldo. Questo antico nome deriva probabilmente dalla famiglia del sacerdote Cataldo Perta (1744-1809) che edificò la struttura e che la usò come propria dimora, mentre nei trulli circostanti adibì le abitazioni per i suoi dipendenti. La denominazione Corte Papa Cataldo è stata citata in un importante documento notarile del 15 aprile 1797, e pertanto la facciata del Trullo Sovrano si può sicuramnente far risalire fra il 1796 e il 1797. Nel tempo l'edificio ha avuto diverse destinazioni: corte, cappella, spezieria, cenobio, oratorio campestre, abitazione . Nei primi anni del 1800 vi dimorarono le reliquie dei Santi Cosma e Damiano – Patroni di Alberobello – e dal 1826 fu sede della Confraternita del SS.Sacramento. Sul finire del XIX sec. divenne di proprietà della Famiglia Sumerano (tuttora proprietaria), che fece del Trullo la propria abitazione. Gli arredamenti e tutti gli oggetti esposti sono autentici.
