Hello Raffaele, the min focus distance of Tamron 180 is 0.47m. The purpose of 1.4x tele converter is to increase working distance. Easier to get enough magnification without scare away the butterfly. However, need step down to at least F8 for good sharpness. F5.6 reading on this photo is wrong, the camera cannot detect the 1.4x tele converter. Actual aperture is F8.
