Grazie alla disponibilità di Fulvio45 e di Vanna, sua moglie, ancora con la stampella alla Enrico Toti (convalescenza rottura femore), sono stata in questo splendido paesino della Val d'Ossola. Nel ringraziare ancora, i miei amici, posto una breve presentazione di questo splendido posto. Mergozzo vanta uno dei più bei borghi lacustri del territorio del Lago Maggiore. Affacciato sulle rive dell'omonimo lago, separato dal Lago Maggiore a seguito delle continue inondazioni del Toce, questo incantevole paese lacustre è un'ambita meta di villeggiatura già a partire dalla stagione primaverile. Il borgo, caratterizzato da stretti viottoli formati da case in pietra addossate le une alle altre, conduce alla piazza centrale del paese dominata dall'antico olmo secolare: secondo documenti storici, la pianta si trovava nella piazza di Mergozzo già 400 anni fa; ora, completamente cava, è stata insignita del titolo di albero monumentale del Piemonte. Mergozzo è terra di antichi insediamenti, come dimostra la ricca raccolta del museo Antiquarium, dove sono esposti materiali relativi alla preistoria e all'età del Bronzo, ma anche gli antichi strumenti utilizzati per l'escavazione e la lavorazione del granito del Montorfano e del marmo di Candoglia.(da lago maggiore.it)
