Questo edificio era la sede dei mercanti tedeschi che lo usavano come magazzino e alloggio. Esistente già dal XIII secolo, è stato ricostruito tra il 1505 e il 1508 in seguito ad un incendio. In questa occasione sono stati chiamati ad affrescarlo all'esterno Giorgione e l'allievo Tiziano. Purtroppo di questi affreschi sono rimasti solo alcuni frammenti, ora custoditi a Ca' d'Oro. Come gli altri fonteghi della città, anche questo è stato soppresso nel 1797 con la caduta della Repubblica di Venezia. E' stato a lungo di proprietà delle Poste e Telecomunicazioni, che lo hanno ceduto nel 2008 a Benetton che ne ha fatto un centro commerciale (molto contestato, ma non vogliamo entrare in merito a questo).
