9 is a professional camera, having the 5D3 I can tell you that some settings (iso and times) you will quickly (especially as I did shooting him in AV mode). As for the focus, had a wide angle and with that kind of goal, in that situation, put on infinity and you're done .... :-)
His skill was in finding the right pair of time and sensitivity (since having that the diaphragm was forced ...) to "freeze" the moment.
Finally, I agree with the statement of Movod when he says that this is the best of all the photos taken on the trip overall and I wonder why, more photos not so spectacular (more about that trip ...) received many more "I Like "and many more hits?
Complimbodies to Sandro for this shot ..... and greetings to all,
Francis

Francis, as it turned, and as you can see even now, since you did comment,
there is no 'one who says his. I too find the photo spectacular and different from those seen
right now out of the forum. E 'from fright, and capture it without getting caught by the rush,
I think it's difficult, certainly told by an inexperienced like me has no value.
Anyways, 'too, and' a way of communicating, so let us take it ', but' what 'does not mean that you're right.
Author I can only repeat that this 'he has seen and' amazing and the photo that he gave us,
not 'less.
I hope to see many more and sincere compliments,
Lully

Spectacular this training, I can only imagine what can be see in person.
In my opinion you have included in the composition of the village was a good idea, in this way you will understand the true scale of the phenomenon, perhaps lose a little 'from the purely aesthetic and composition but undoubtedly the descriptive point of view the result is perfectly centered.
Surely you could compose more carefully, perhaps avoiding the roof on the left or by including more elements down without cuts, from the description that accompanies the photo, however, I understand that certain situations begin and end within a minute so I think that it is not easy to be in the right place at the right time and with the perfect composition, especially if instead of the natural environment you are in a country with low inevitable elements cut fromsomewhere.

It 's also a matter of luck, if you place the machine on the stand looking for the ideal composition including the best the village but the phenomena in the sky are formed in the wrong place you are likely to stay all night waiting for the dawn perfect arrived at the right in the space of sky that we spent.

I think this approach can afford it only lives in those areas and that can make many attempts, sooner or later get the perfect shot.

Thanks for the technical evaluations and comments
In fact I have a couple of pictures taken without the little village below, with the only shot of the sky, but as mentioned by many acts not from a sense of the majesty of reality!
This picture, which I agree not to be purely artistic as a member (due to the dominance of yellow lights, the roofs of the houses which are confusing, the cuts made on the boats in dock etc. ..).

But it is the only one that combines reality with abstraction, the physical with the metaphysical, that a measure of the phenomenon, the outlines, the sizing and returns to earth something surreal mysterious as it may be the dawn ... ..

The same photo without village does not give the same feeling ...

May the Lord bless you Father Titino

Beautiful ... I'm still laughing!!

Thanks
Luke, Mark, Francis and everyone!

Robe from another planet. Incredible physical performance. With regard to discussions on the composition tell you my: the semi-circle of dawn then completed in a circle from the clouds creates a window from which Starry actually, thinking about the various science fiction movie, it seems to reach an alien attack on the village. In this sense, I find the title and the composition fits perfectly. Then you could also make a different choice to enhance the dawn, saw that it is a bit 'difficult to make a com spotlessly clean with all those houses, but the fact remains that the choice to hit the mark, at least for me. :-)
