Diga San Felice Una delle grandi opere ultimate nel periodo fascista è la diga San Felice di Sottomarina che, con la diga di Ca' Roman già costruita da qualche anno, completa le bocche del Porto di Chioggia. L'inizio della sua costruzione risale agli anni del primo dopoguerra e vi provvide l'imprenditore Vittorio Cini. L'opera fu progettata in mattoni e massi di originale Pietra d'Istria e, oltre alla realizzazione definitiva dell'entrata nel Porto di Chioggia, consentì anche un allargamento ulteriore dell'arenile, grazie ad un gioco di correnti che depositava sempre più sabbia in costa. Infatti, l'acqua del fiume Brenta, la cui foce era stata dirottata dalla laguna al mare, imprigionata dalla diga verso nord, depositò una quantità notevolissima di sabbia che nel giro di 20 anni creò un vero e proprio arenile. L'inaugurazione avvenne in pieno regime fascista il 28 aprile del 1935 alla presenza del Duca d'Aosta. Il 4 novembre 1966 la diga fu seriamente danneggiata da una violenta mareggiata ed i capanni in legno con le reti delle bilance, per combattere meglio la forza del mare, in seguito furono ricostruiti con materiali molto più consistenti, arrivando a poggiare su pilastri di cemento. La diga è stata subito adottata dalla popolazione, soprattutto dagli abitanti di Sottomarina, meta preferita delle loro passeggiate, tanto che viene definita da molti la “piazza dei marinanti”.
