Pontia edusa Farfalla delle Pieridi di medie dimensioni (apertura alare 36 - 48 mm). La parte superiore delle ali è di colore bianco, con macchie nere sia nell'ala anteriore che in quella posteriore. La parte inferiore delle ali posteriori è di colore verde-grigio a macchie. La farfalla è quasi identica alla Pontia daplidice e solo le indagini dei genitali (a mezzo microscopio) permettono la distinzione tra queste due specie. Si trova dal sud-est Europa (Francia meridionale, Italia ) fino all'Europa centrale e il Medio Oriente in Iran e Iraq. Si tratta di una specie migrante che si può incontrare anche in Belgio, Olanda, Germania settentrionale e la Polonia, nei paesi baltici e nel sud della Svezia e Norvegia. Con generazioni che vanno da due a quattro, a seconda della latitudine, gli adulti volano da marzo a ottobre. Questa specie può essere trovato in tutte le aree aperte erbose o fiorite, in luoghi sassosi e rocciosi e bordi delle strade, in particolare dove le piante ospiti crescono, dal piano basale a quello collinare. In Italia è distribuita praticamente ovunque a differenza della Pontia daplidice che si può trovare solo in Sardegna e nelle zone nord occidentali dell'Italia settentrionale. Le uova vengono deposte singolarmente e hanno un periodo di incubazione di sette giorni. I bruchi sono presenti da maggio. Sono verdi-grigiastri, con punti neri e larghe strisce gialle, molto simili alla larva Pieris brassicae. La Pontia Edusa sverna come crisalide. Le larve si nutrono di varie specie di Resedaceae.
