La prima pietra del Duomo dogale del SS. Redentore fu posata nel 1603. La costruzione andò a rilento tra mancanza di fondi, difficoltà di rapporti tra Venezia e lo Stato Pontificio, diritti sulla giurisdizione ecclesiastica vantati dal Patriarcato di Aquileia. Il progetto iniziale fu modificato e una seconda “prima pietra” fu collocata nel 1615. Si aggiunsero poi problemi strutturali alla facciata, cosicché il tetto (con le ampie capriate in larice dalla Slavonia) fu ultimato solo nel 1636. Il Duomo Dogale di Palmanova rimanda allo stile architettonico veneto di ispirazione palladiana, mentre le decorazioni interne si basano sui canoni del barocco. L'edificio si presenta con aula unica e tre absidi sul lato nord. Verso la fine del XVII secolo sulla facciata furono collocate le statue dei santi protettori di Palmanova: al centro il Redentore (1683), mentre ai lati San Marco e Santa Giustina (1693). Diversi gli affreschi interni, tra i quali spicca la "Pala delle Milizie", opera di Alessandro Varotari detto il Padovanino, datata 1641. Risaltano anche le opere di Pomponio Amalteo e la piccola madonnina lignea attribuita a Domenico da Tolmezzo.
