La prospettiva Nevskij termina nella piazza Aleksandr Nevskij, davanti al Monastero Aleksandr Nevskij della Santissima Trinità, uno dei quattro "lavra", cioè Monasteri ortodossi privilegiati rispetto ai "Monastyr" perchè sedi di un Metropolita e di un Seminario (gli altri tre sono quelli di Sergiev Posad, presso Mosca, di Kiev e di Volyn in Ukraina). Lo volle Pietro il Grande nel 1710 perchè la sua capitale doveva avere un Lavra degno di reggere il confronto con gli altri tre. Cinto da mura massicce, il complesso appare una vera e propria fortezza che racchiude sette chiese e tre cimiteri. L'imponente Cattedrale della Trinità, di stile classico, è la più importante e sfarzosa.
