Very particular image as the formation of these clouds. Very interesting the caption that accompanies the shot that gave me the way to know this phenomenon, in reality now that I think of these formations of clouds sometimes I have seen them on Vesuvius.

Thanks Tore for the nice comment to this picture. It intrigued me very much also the dynamics that determines the formation of these particular clouds, that of the shot then, is enriched by the colors of the sunset. Possible to form also around Vesuvius. The two volcanoes have in common to be isolated, not to be part that is, of a mountain range, who knows perhaps this characteristic could be favorable.
Thank you very much

Seeing this beautiful shot and having read your competent and exhaustive didascalìa I think you know about lenticular clouds, as well as take them with beautiful photos. A Ciao Alberto

Thanks Alberto, my knowledge was born by chance, after having, for the first time, met this lenticular cloud photographed. Live was majestic, almost disturbing in size and shape, I have therefore documented, discovering that it is a phenomenon that occurs, but only in certain places and at certain times, being in fact necessary, to their formation at the same time, more Factors.
Thank you for your appreciation to photo and caption.

Yes Gianni, it was a surprise the sight of this cloud, impressive both for its shape, but also for the size.
so much so that his meeting stimulated me to document myself.

Thanks Marco, just happy with your beautiful words of approval to this shot.
You are right, they are not frequent, they are formed only if various factors intervene simultaneously, this then was of considerable size and colored from the sunset. A Few days ago, always around Etna, I happened to see another, but not so big, not so colorful, little different from a normal cloud.
Thanks Marco, even for the always welcome compliments. ;-)
Hello, good evening to you too :-)
