Il Pirgo, originariamente costruito nella seconda metà del 1800, ha preso il suo nome dall'antico popolo di Pyrgi, che prima dei Romani dimorava lungo le coste laziali. Il complesso balneare originario, impiantato su di un isolotto, era formato da una piattaforma con pontili, rotonde ed edifici in stile chalet svizzero. Nel giro di pochi anni divenne un centro frequentato dalla più rinomata ed importante borghesia dell'epoca. Danneggiato dagli eventi bellici e dalle mareggiate, dopo lunghi anni di degrado e disuso, il Pirgo è stato ricostruito nel 1997 in una nuova moderna struttura. Il primo step di un più ampio progetto che ha coinvolto successivamente tutta la zona della Marina e del lungomare di Civitavecchia, restituendo così finalmente ai cittadini un importante edificio storico. Dalla terrazza del Pirgo è possibile avere una splendida panoramica di tutto il lungomare di Civitavecchia. Recentemente anche la spiaggia del Pirgo è stata riqualificata ed è sorto uno stabilimento attrezzato che d'estate si popola di bagnanti e turisti. È il mare nel quale sono cresciuto, profondamente cambiato da quando ero bambino, ma al quale sono fortemente legato per ovvie ragioni...

Nice compo with great light colour variation to the photo to donate Alexander, natural blue backdrop that interacts well with other color tone of the image:-).
