Thank you so very much everyone!

My intention with this posting was to counteract the freezing snow and ice with a nice colourful summery image, which I believe it certainly did.

I did notice some less complimentary comments on the ratio between land and sky. I have had confrontations on my portrayal of such before, but which I had forgotten about, so was disappointed to receive once again.

I make no excuses for this. What is known as the John Ford (the western director) effect, he had HUGE skies and a tiny strip of land, usually opening his amazing films. Had I seen such on the big screen, I know I would have undoubtedly gasped at the sight of such.

As some have correctly said, the sky here is the star. The brightness of the yellow against the blue is, in my opinion, about 8 times more powerful, so an 8 to 1 ratio of sky/land would not be that unreasonable.

Also, despite being taken nearly 3 years ago, so I cannot recall exactly the geography of the scene, we usually have fences and other such distractions that would cut into the scene and if I had used a 3 to 1 ratio, I would have had not just the rapeseed but the green grass between me and the crop.

This was meant as a rather minimal landscape, so refute also that there was not enough detail on the horizon. In fact, there is a slight bump in the shape of a tree about two thirds the way across. Which, compositionally, is correct.

Yes, I do find this an emotive subject and I do know what I am talking about and I will continue to post landscapes with strong skies at ratios some might not like. I have explained my opinions on this now in detail and won't do such again! (But thanks again)
