dawn of a new night .... sent on September 05, 2017 (19:04) by Steff. 37 comments, 1441 views. [retina]

con Canon EF 1.4x III, 1/320 f/5.6, ISO 1600, hand held. Specie: Bubo lacteus

Ehh pretty much the kruger you got it all

and maybe! :-D
Except the super subject, but what light

supergrazie
anyway now I know him like my pockets.
this is a road that x the pictures should be made in the afternoon when the light illuminates the tree vault.
the characteristic is that you are traveling on a slope and the trees underneath illuminated by the shining light are spectacular and above all they have the height of the vehicle so you can make animals on trees with fantastic pdr.
here I made a leopard photo with breathtaking light and pdr
www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=1895020
unfortunately this time I did not see leopardson the trees but I found the gufo.
ps the road is a loop north of shingweds and is about thirty miles long

You see the conditions are perfect. The individual I photographed in Ethiopia has different plumage in front, maybe it's a young man, but the horns of Africa's horns only report the adult!

Fine, too, you could write to Stevenson and Fanshave (the authors of the bird guides on the horn of Africa) and show them how young people are. I confirm that they are difficult to observe, we were accompanied by a guide who knew what he was doing, and the area where he was looking was not very wide, with a bit of effort we observed, in addition to an Abyssin Owl and an African Wood Owl.

Manzek, I'm a big fan of striggys who are my "top target" also in italy. For me to have photographed the owl was perhaps the pinnacle of my "photographic career" (career is to say).
apart from this, the difficulty is to see them. They are habitual. They always lie on the same trees or rocks.
they have a somewhat limited territory if there is food. It is likely that this owl will come here every night.
in Ethiopia you can look for it on foot so it is easy. but in parks with big predators, buffaloes and elephants, this is dangerous and forbidden. they have to look out of the car and not always easy. we have to do the eye looking the silhouette and not the subject.in a forest you can not flick all gthe trees for thirty miles ... is a bit like going to mushrooms :-D

I know by experience that photographing strigiforms is not random, you have to know their habits and know where to go looking for them. We were looking for them on foot, in that park there were various species of ungulates but not big predators, no security issue.
