Un bel pomeriggio assolato, il 7 ottobre, nulla di meglio che andarsene a girovagare per la parte alta di Montmartre. La signora che vedete nella mia foto, ha subito attratto la mia attenzione, per l'aria pacifica e serafica e per quel suo non affannarsi a chiamare turisti presso la sua postazione. Mi sono fermata, ha subito sbirciato la mia reflex, e mi ha detto: “ Vuoi fare delle foto?”. E io con una faccia tosta che più tosta non si può, ho risposto: “Se vuoi, dopo, prima vorrei parlare un po' con te. Mi piacerebbe che mi raccontassi un po' di questa moderna Montmartre”. Ha scosso la testa, e mi ha risposto: “Hai ragione, il quartiere si è data una rifrescata di nuovo, è rimasta autentica solo una cosa: la povertà degli artisti”. Mi ha raccontato di suoi colleghi di gran talento che, purtroppo fanno la fame, perché si ostinano ancora a vivere come i vecchi pittori dell'ottocento. Lei, Susanne, invece, a Place du Tertre ci viene solo qualche pomeriggio, il resto delle sue giornate lo passa in un negozietto nei pressi de la Madeleine, dove restaura e vende oggetti vintage. “Mettere su quel buco, mi è costata una gran fatica, ma alla fine ce l'ho fatta. Non mi lamento, non ci divento ricca, ma riesco a tirarmi fuori una vita dignitosa. “ E' una delle poche, perché gli altri, purtroppo, stentano davvero a sopravvivere, ma Susanne ha il cuore tenero, e da qualche mese ospita un artista, che poi mi ha presentato, rimasto senza casa, per mancanza di denaro. Certo, è triste pensare a tutto questo, ma credo, che noi nostalgici, dovremmo essere grati a questi veri artisti, che mantengono intatto il fascino di questo vecchio quartiere parigino, e rimangono fedeli alla loro vera natura bohèmienne. Dimenticavo: a marzo torno a Parigi e ho appuntamento con Susanne che mi lascerà fotografare il suo negozietto a la Madeleine.
