Pepe Gaka is an Italian artist, specialised in street painting. He's one of the last Madonnaro in the world, a 4 centuries old Italian tradition of religious street paintings.
He travels the world painting and busking.
During his permanence in Sydney, he started a creative collaboration with renowned time-lapse photographer Filippo Rivetti.
This first project is a time-lapse/hyper-lapse of Ecco Homo ("behold the man"), painting depicting the famous scene from the Gospel of John, entirely created with soft pastels in Circular Quay, Sydney.
The painting (5 meters x 3 meters), which took 8 days and more than 13,000 RAW pictures, has been donated to Mission San Xavier del Bac in Tucson, Arizona.
