Questo è il trailer ufficiale del Grantecan. Questo timelapse mostra una notte al 10.4m Gran Telescopio CANARIAS, il più grande telescopio ottico del Mondo alla data odierna, presso l'Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos nell'isola di La Palma (Isole Canarie).
Tra il 21 Aprile e il 24 Aprile 2015 lo sciame delle Liridi era straordinariamente visibile dall'osservatorio. Ho fatto un timelapse dell'evento da diverse postazioni attorno al Grantecan, raccogliendo 46 ore di scatto continuo (quasi 4200 foto in totale) mentre ero astronomo di supporto al telescopio.
NOTE:
- al minuto 01:50, nella parte in alto a destra della scena, una meteora esplode lasciando una scia di fumo rosso in espansione
- al minuto 03:12 è possibile vedere la ISS in transito sopra il Grantecan da destra verso il basso a sinistra nel cielo (Nord-Sud)
- Durante le scene notturne si vede un bellissimo airglow verde e rosso.
