Pros: Focal range from 35 to 150.. brightness from 2 to 2.8 well proportioned. AF great for my way of photographing. Image quality combined with Sony sensors.

Cons: Weight but understandable. Hood that I personally do not like the petal design. Zoom that lengthens: I prefer internal focus.

Opinion: I've had this lens for a couple of years. I mainly use it for ceremonies and events. Personally it covers the range of focal lengths that I use the most. It is true that it is big and weight, but if we keep in mind the quality and concreteness that you can bring with you only one lens and you do everything ... I don't see the problem. Personally to have a more wide-angle lens I matched the 20 40 2.8 Tamron and so I feel covered, even if.. If I need to enlarge the frame, just step back 2/3 steps and you're fine. For those like me, does not prefer many optical changes especially in adverse environments, and those like me, do not like to wear two cameras around their neck ... With this all-rounder you are fully booked. I call him a handyman but I don't want to belittle him. For me it is really a great goal. Now I bought a second one for the study, trying to understand the new Samyang 35 150 2 2.8 if it could, given the lower price, replace this Tamron. No. The lower price explains my answer no. You pay less, you have less. So Tamron all life. Sometimes I miss those extra 50 mm that gives me the 70 200... But as we all know... Extra mm is never enough :-) in no lens and the choice between 70 200 or 35 150 brought me to the second because with a range that reaches 35 you have more elasticity and those 50 less that I said in the end can be a good compromise.

Pros: Construction, rendered in good light

Cons: Low light rendering

Opinion: I have to be honest... I was very torn before buying this lens... after many reviews read in depth I took the plunge and I bought the Tamron 35-150 ... after a trip to Greece and a series of night events (concerts), I sold the zoom that I had courted so much ... It goes very well during the day, but when the light drops, its performance at full aperture also drops drastically... And having bought it mainly for these "nocturnal" situations, I made the decision to deprive myself of it. The lens is well built, it weighs, but it has never bothered me too much in transport. Excellent ability to update it via the USB socket. The af is certainly not at the level of the original Sony lenses, it gets away with it, nothing more... But to do sporting events especially indoors, I would advise against it. The light yield let's say, daytime is good ... But as soon as you are in low light, performance drops dramatically, even with regard to AF. If a lens with these apertures has these defects in the field where it seems to be used, I don't think it's worth buying. For trips that only include daytime shots, it is instead a very interesting zoom, given the focal range. This was my experience... Vote 8.

Pros: Versatility, optical quality, build quality

Cons: AF not at the levels of the most performing ones, but still excellent, the flare in backlight is not nice

Opinion: I thought about it a lot, but for my way of working I couldn't have made a better choice. I tried to use the dual camera in events with the classic paired 35 85 (90 in my case, but we are there) but I was not at ease in the slightest. Always having a dangling body that slams to the right and misses, in the long run limits me in movement and efficiency. I preferred to go back to the single room and change lenses as needed. This lens reshuffles the cards at stake. Taking into account that now I travel with a maximum of 2 lenses (this and the wide angle in case of need) in the end I lightened the bag a lot, reduced the lens changes to a minimum, I can use a single body as I prefer to do, maintaining a quality almost unchanged compared to the previous torque (35 1.8 sony and 90 mm macro). It is true that I have "lost" the macro, which in the case of events is quite useless, but I have gained literally hundreds of other focal lengths that I can use without any sacrifice, and it is so much gained, not being a lover of "well, I shoot at 24 mm so much then I cut out and it becomes a nice 40". The quality is excellent, to the point that I can use it without problems at full aperture at each focal length, being the closure quite gradual. Personally I sold the 70 200 f4 (I often stopped at 150 mm shooting and in any case up to 200 does not change so drastically), the 50 1.8, and I'm considering selling the 35 1.8 as well. Considering the savings in weight and bulk that I had, I do not feel like judging it even heavy ... after all, it weighs less than some sigma art, such as 40. The only flaws that I found are a rate of fire not at the levels of other sony lenses, sometimes it does not take the subject in a very fast time (never happened the col 35 for example), and the flare in backlight, did not give me the same satisfactions of the 70 200 that I used. The focusing distance is not as permissive as the 35 mm or the macro, it does not make me feel too much the lack. Net of everything, I would give a 9.5. Since there are no half votes, the 10 deserves it. Brava Tamron for intuition, courage and accomplishment.

Pros: A lot of things.

Cons: No.

Opinion: I state that I bought this lens after realizing that 90% of the photos I take are in this focal range. It therefore became interesting a single lens, perhaps to be combined with a 20mm or a super wide zoom for particular situations. Let's start with the negative aspects that as far as I am concerned are limited to size and weight. It is a price to pay when they combine wide focal range and high brightness. All in all everything is manageable quite well and this Tamron is well balanced once mounted on A7RIV, optics with which I made the first test shots. Well centered and without offsets to any of the focal lengths tested. In the gallery, which I promise to update and integrate, I have included some shots to check the sharpness at FULL APERTURE. Shots imported in C1 and not processed in any parameter. Taking into account the qualitative loss that comes from loading at mpx max. 10 I would say that the performance is of a high level in my opinion equal to or higher even to fixed optics of clear fame. This performance even increases by diaphragm a little. Excellent blur rendering, as well as correction of chromatic and geometric aberrations. But here I'm not sure if there is the paw of C1. Seeing AC absent and no distortion I doubt. A certain vignetting is present, always at TA, but in general I like this effect and it is still easily correctable. Resistance to the flare for me very good: it is seen in conditions of extreme backlight but the halos you have to go looking for them. What can I say? Excellent optics that will certainly not be appreciated by those who love extreme compactness but very versatile. A side effect that can cause is the abandonment of many fixed optics that you already have by relegating them to dust on the shelf. Like all opinions, mine are obviously personal and dictated by a first use in a day with finally a splash of sunshine. The price, although high, I consider it well proportionate to the object and will certainly settle at a slightly lower level in some time. Those who want more details can write me in MP. After a slightly more extensive use I confirm in full my first impressions. With particular reference to the quality of the blur that I personally consider delicious and at the level of the best fixed lenses at equivalent focal lengths.
