Pros: Price, uniqueness

Cons: Non-fluid zoom ring, questionable lampshal

Opinion: A must for those who need a zoom at a low price for Sony FE. The focal excursion is particular and allows you to limit the dimensions by sacrificing 4mm in the wide-angle area (you notice a lot so it is up to you to decide whether it is worth the sacrifice). The AF is quite fast, now it is really a question of ingezie between a top lens and a mediocre lens in these focal points... The construction in general is of a good standard, the plastics adapted to today's standards ( it is not metal but not even a samyang), except for the lampshed which is too small and probably useless. The quality of the photos is discreet. Bokeh does not excite and uniformity of sharpness is not adequate for large hyperfocal prints. Was it born for this? No, so I find it sterile to expect a zoom that can return fabulous portraits, incredible landscapes and maybe even print your photographs while you eat a pizza. The sharpness in the center is high, the chromatic aberrations negligible, the distortion corrected easily automatically: in essence it is an excellent lens for working and that will not make you regret the 24-70 GM (which urgently needs an update).

Pros: Value

Cons: Probably the focal range

Opinion: My first lens on sony (used on the A7 III and A7r III). I can't compare it to the competition but I can certainly confirm that as much as it costs it's a really interesting lens when you consider opening up to f2.8 and a warmer color trend than other proven designed designed on Sony cameras. I found it particularly sharp and first of vignettes even at the maximum opening, the rings are fluid and precise and to the touch by a nice feeling of solidity especially considering that it is a lens in my opinion suitable for ML cameras for its small size. Probably the only flaw (but it's not a flaw) is the range of focals starting at 28mm (versus 24 of the usual FF handymen) but objectively they haven't seemed like a problem to me so far. Would recommend

Pros: Price

Cons: Stumbled into a defective specimen in focus and communication with the camera, I wait for the replacement after needlessly sending it into assistance (the problems remained so and such)

Opinion: Unfortunately I stumbled upon a specimen with several problems, from the autofocus that in AFC pumps without finding fire and in AFS often produces blurry images, not to mention the management of the diaphragm that practically always works at full opening... In addition, the camera (Sony A7R3) fails to communicate with the lens and therefore does not automatically correct the heavy vignette. Sent for service in June through the store in Trieste where it was purchased, I was returned at the end of August with the same problems that it had at the origin. A way of doing care that is truly unqualified. Now I have asked the retailer to replace it with a working model, I was told that they turned the request over to the distributor (Polyphoto). I wait a few more days then I will have to enforce the ex art guarantee clauses against the store. 130 of the Consumer Code.

Pros: sharpness, price, size, overall yield

Cons: in a low light condiz sometimes the af doesn't hook

Opinion: This lens I think is great from all points of view, especially for the cost it has and considering the competition for sony optics. the sharpness is very high, I use it without problem for portraits even at 70mm 2.8 and everything is very sharp even at TA. as mentioned in the pros sometimes I struggle a little to focus in low light conditions, but it happens a few times and with very little luke available. The only thing, however, that I'm not sure about and I should do tests comparing it with other f2.8 optics, is that sometimes it seems unluminous to be 2.8. Let me explain better: in a certain light condition, setting a certain coupled diaphragm/time/iso seems to enter less light than other f2.8 optics, but it is not a test that I did actually but simply remembering the various optics used.

Pros: Efficient and quiet autofocus, sharpness, value for money

Cons: Considering the price and the category of which it is part, I would say none. In an absolute sense maybe those 4 mm on the wide angle that you sometimes miss.

Opinion: A beautiful lens, practical and multipurpose (and we would miss it, is a zoom 28-75 2.8..). In general very good image quality. What does not drive me crazy is the ring of manual fire, I would prefer that there was more step between this and the plastic of the barrel, it would certainly be more ergonomic, plus it is really "tight", otherwise it flows quite well. As for the AF, however, nothing really to criticize, it's really good, at least on a7iii. One flaw of my specimen(?) is that over time, the use of zooming (in practice a "vacuum cleaner effect" can bring in tiny grains of dust from the bayonet side that settle on the back of the 2nd front lens. I solved by dismantling the front lenses and cleaning them, but of course you have to be very careful especially if you are not familiar, in that case better to bring it into assistance. For this reason I recommend avoiding using the zoom dial if the lens does not have a rear cap or if it is not mounted on the machine.

Pros: Colors, bokeh on some focal points, light, pleasantly smooth zoom ring and controllable even for micro adjustments.

Cons: Soft at the edges at 28mm. A little overpri't. Manual fire in un progressive videos

Opinion: Interesting optics if you don't want to weigh down the bag. It produces always pleasant images, with beautiful colors even in difficult situations, very three-dimensional even if you shoot at high f-stops. An optics that if put on a test bench with technical tests shows limits, but that in real life reviewing the photos leaves me amazed by the brilliance of the colors. The complexion is correct and pleasant without manly passages on the shadows. I confirm that it is a good view, costing a thread less would be more consistent. Automatic fire in videos always without problems, when passing in manual make adjustments without making mistakes becomes difficult, the servo is not studied at its best. Better work in AF all the time. Not bad. I will say no more because everything has been said on the internet and the opposite of everything, between youtubbber and last hour reviewers.

Pros: Image quality, focus, size

Cons: Constructive quality, price

Opinion: I'm going to go a little against the tide. Definitely attractive price for the characteristics of the optics, but the realization in terms of construction quality frankly is from the lens "cheap" and I am very sorry. Being used to the classic L Canon series armored cars, but also some Tamrons for DSLR, this lens looks like a cheap toy, paid for rather expensively. Everything that has impressed me negatively with regard to the construction, is instead repaid by the optical quality and autofocus, both very good. Autofocus fast and very quiet, so much so that it is recommended to be used also in the video field... Good image quality, sometimes very good, good rendering of colors and details, even at full opening says its, despite present a blurry 2.8 that sometimes does not convince me... I definitely want to recommend it, it's a great all-rounder's optics for those who don't want to faint. It has a minimal distance of interesting focus even for macro shots. It enjoys the usual Tamron warranty extension, which I consider a bonus not to be underestimated. Overall I promote it, waiting to evaluate its duration over time. Vote 9.

Pros: good sharpness in the middle of the frame, price

Cons: very poor sharpness at the edges, clutter, lampshade, poor resistance to reflections

Opinion: I was able to try this lens for a week on Sony A7RII. I was very disappointed especially for the poor quality of the edges, in the face of a sharpness in the center more than discreet. I do not agree with the enthusiastic reviews that are read here on the forum and I doubt that there is in the production there is a certain lack in quality controls I found feedback on my negative opinion in the review made by Photozone, where the optics did not go further a modest score of 2.5. https://www.opticallimits.com/sonyalphaff/1064-tamron2875f28e?start=1 If this is the case, it seems to me that it is possible to make a decent use only in the street, but certainly not in the landscape and in the filming of architecture.

Pros: Already good sharpness at 2.8, constant diaphragm at all focal points, chromatic yield, maf speed, reduced footprint, minimum distance maf

Cons: 28mm-2.8 vignette

Opinion: A large lens, sharper than the sony fe 24-70 f4, certainly the plastic construction leaves a little to be desired for the price paid, however the yield is exceptional. Nitido already at f2.8, improves by closing to f4, a f8 is a blade. Zoom 28-75 is not a big problem, some complain that those 4mm are missing, I think if a scene doesn't stand with 28mm it's probably not even with 24mm. The focus is very fast, maybe not as much as Sony's 24 70 2.8, but for this price range it's top and is compatible with all Sony autofocus modes (or at least it is on my Sony A7Rii) eye-af including , fast and accurate. The color rendering has something more than the other sony lenses, the colors are more vivid in general. The minimum distance for focus is really small, allowing you to shoot almost macros. Unfortunately it vignettes and not a little at 28mm 2.8, but it is easily corrected in post.

Pros: True handyman. Distance of focus, value for money, weight and size, aberrations little present.

Cons: Vignetting

Opinion: Updated review, after intensive use in August and July. The premise: I use this optics on a Sony A7III, paired with a Samyang 35mm f/1.4. Being used to the quality of a fixed, although not "premium", like the Samyang, I felt a bit the difference in "optical" quality, but I declare i am satisfied. The main strengths are: AF totally silent and fast, the EYE AF works very well (even in poor light conditions. Minimum focus distance, and is perhaps the main reason why I opted for this goal, since it is the icing on the cake that makes this optics a complete all-rounder (sure, do not expect the quality of a 90mm f/2.8 G Master, but it also seems obvious). Weight and lightness, content for the optics that is; mounted on the Sony A7III is balanced with the body. The sharpness is very good, although it did not leave me impressed as I would have expected from various reviews that describe it as "extremely sharp"; however personally I am fine with that, and I find it very good already at TA. Design, because this lens seems to me built "with brain", that precise choices have been made (materials, focal, etc...) to get to offer excellent optical qualities at a very low price, offering certain characteristics (weight and lightness in the first place) that the rival G Master does not offer (of course). Chromatic aberrations. I don't know if having the Samyang in my hand, which suffers some of it, I'm "used badly", or I have a lucky sample, but I never had any problems, not even at TA. The points I consider "neutral" are: - TA vignette. Nothing excessive: it is present and corrects itself with a click in post production, but for the price is the very acceptable. Construction. The lens is made of plastic, as is the lampshade. It may not please the most "squeamish", but personally it still gives me a very good feeling, and honestly if you are looking for all these optical qualities and a proper construction, you have to release more money. "The lens is moisture-resistant," which means everything and nothing. A guy who makes videos on YouTube (Sebastiano Chiari) took him with him to Iceland without any problems; however, I would not use it as a "battle" goal: if your needs are high, I would orient myself towards the G Master. Is it a shame he's not as tropicalized as brother G Master? Of course, if he were tropicalized as his rival, he would have been the top... but it wouldn't cost 750 euros, so you always go back to the quality/price discourse. The "negative" points (nonsense at the end) are: reverse focal dial. It's not that I'm much of a flaw, it's more a personal thing, you get used to it in the end. I also point out that the focus dial is closer to the machine body than the dial to change focal, an "inverse" system, although I personally find it more comfortable as well. I don't find any points against the price: it's not a particularly three-dimensional optics, built with excellent materials, with zero vignettes and distortion. But you still have to consider that it costs 750-800 euros: there are no alternatives, and I would say that it already offers a lot for what it costs. So, the talk is simple: if you can't afford a G Master, but look for an optician that can do everything, thanks to the minimum focus distance, the 2.8 diaphragm and the usual zoom focal (a little less wide-angle than usual), counting that the weight for you it is important, then I highly recommend the purchase. Otherwise, if you are looking for the highest quality, you will take a fixed or the G Master.

Pros: Lightness, Aperture, sharpness, AF

Cons: Aberration to TA.

Opinion: Personally I am using this lens on A7II and I have to say it was a great buy. The image rendition is great at all focal lengths, sharp lens with a fast accurate AF and noiseless. Large opening that also allows portrait use with natural light indoors. The advice much also for the value for money compared to other brands more emblazoned and overpriced. Although I read that people report as negativity its plastic structure I do not find any problem on the matter, indeed certainly gains in lightness.

Pros: Light, value for money.

Cons: All plastic.

Opinion: A great target! Good sharpness already at TA, great at F8/F11. The focal 28/75 does me no problem... I never felt the lack of those 3 mm... To the most objective change. IMHO, from the best between 35 and 60 mm! All in all you can say it has a very high value for money.. Although it is to be said that it is completely plasticous.. This is certainly not a merit.. But this feature makes it light and on A7II everything is well balanced.

Pros: Sharpness already at TA, light, video quality

Cons: Slight aberration C.

Opinion: I think it is a lens with great potential, I bought it recently but I could already appreciate speed and sharpness. What to say in video mode is spectacular, impossible to say hear the sound of the scooters AF. For the rest what about, at I'm priced an f2.8 with even macro features at just over €800 you can buy

Pros: Sharpness, weight, size, price-quality ratio, T-a details.

Cons: Platyly Lens hood, flare in backlight difficult to handle, evident vignetting at T.A.

Opinion: I replaced the Zeiss 24-70 F4 with this lens, both for opening and for the yield of detail, higher than all focal lengths. The Zeiss remains superior in backlight, where the flare is virtually absent. The Tamron is perfect in travel considering the reduced weight and the ability to return, even in critical conditions with little light, great shots. Combined with the stabilized sensor of the A7III is perfect. The blur in the portraits at TA is appreciable, even if not properly ' creamy '. Given the price and the undisputed qualities I consider it a great all to do for the Sony A7. Autofocus slightly below the Zeiss 24-70.

Pros: Price compared to quality, sharpness, versatility, weight/size, silent and Fast.

Cons: Very light vignetting, build quality not at the G master Level.

Opinion: Finally I got my hands on this fantastic lens, while not loving the zooms, I always prefer the fixed optics. But this is a special case. I had bet on the 24-70 G master but then I saw this Tamron which at the performance level is virtually identical, but it costs 1/3 and weighs almost half, this allows me to use it on the CRANE. Absolutely exceptional photo and video quality even at f2.8. It has all the automatisms that you have with the Sony optics therefore ideal for videos and photos also in Motion. I recommend it to everyone, it really has no flaws. It's a vision to always have with you...

Pros: Light, fast and quiet, bright, economical autofocus

Cons: Update 14/11: The Bokeh in some cases is very mushy and contrasted creating a fuzzy somewhat "chaotic"

Opinion: After trying this lens for a long time, I was able to buy it at a physical store. I really like it and use it as everything do on the Sony A7R III. I recommend it to those who want to have a high quality lens at a low price and light to carry. EDIT-Update after two months of use: During this time I have done several tests with this lens and I can confirm that it is a good lens under many points of view. While among the negative points I can say that the AF is fast although in some situations of low light can work a little bit (but I have no terms of comparison with other similar lenses of Sony brand). The zoom ring is uncomfortable because it is placed at the limit of the lens on the front, and for example with hood mounted on the contrary you can not turn. For the rest excellent treatment of the front lens that even touching it accidentally never remain the footprints, which happened to me instead with the Nikon lenses before the passage.

Pros: sharpness, color, weight and size, blurry

Cons: It is not easily found or at a higher price than the list.

Opinion: Taken used with great luck, after trying it new but unnecessarily, no retailer had it available and now I know why! Since I got there I can not remove it, after using the Loxia 21 mm I thought I would be disappointed by the Tamron, but with pleasant surprise was not so. It is sharp, comparable almost to Loxia, but we are talking about a fixed from 1,400 euro, light, well built even if plastic or similar, but still nice to see and touch. Excursion and hardness of the nuts OK, small hood supplied. Perhaps the most striking is the focus distance, basically go to 6-7 cm from the subject, autofocus quite fast although with little light sometimes wavers a little bit. Ultimately a great lens, unbeatable value for money. Rated 10------------

Pros: Sharpness, blurry, price, weight, size

Cons: Build quality more like the Sony than the Zeiss

Opinion: I bought it practically at day One, I've been using it for a few days and I'm finding it really well. The lens is very nice aesthetically, the materials are good but not from that omnipotent style Zeiss feeling. The sharpness is something monstrous, from the center to the edges, from F 2.8 to F11 (more I have not yet tried), from the minimum focal to the maximum, really a blade. The colors are very faithful, the distortion is present a bit ' at all focal lengths but as soon as the update of Lightroom will be a matter of a click. It is impressive the minimum focus distance, it practically goes to touch the subject with the lens making possible even some macro style shots, which if combined with the high resolution of Sony allows to have a ratio of almost 1:1. Fast and always responsive autofocus (like the Zeiss 35 and the 55 Zeiss), the Eye Af is accurate and fast. The bokeh is very delicate and pleasant, not at all nervous. The lens hood is small and comfortable, the zoom ring is a little hard, we hope it will not be out over time while the manual focus is very smooth. Great lens, kudos to Tamron!
