Pros: Very compact, light, great optical yield, excellent flare resistance

Cons: Only 2.8, strange but effective lampshon

Opinion: I have the 35 1.8, very good but heavy to take for a walk. Seeing for sale (used) the 35 2.8 I got curious and took it, obtaining a great satisfaction. When traveling and you want to be light this 35 is unbeatable and makes the A7r3 almost a compact one. No problem of optical yield, the images are always of excellent quality. Could it have been brighter? Perhaps, but in the end it is also fine: to photograph at night or at dusk there are other optics much more suitable. Highly recommended.

Pros: Colors, Sharpness, Bokeh, tropicalization and compactness.

Cons: Only 2.8

Opinion: I think this objective is very good. Too bad it's only 2.8, it was F2 was perfect. One of the best purchases ever, I consider it better than the 35 1.8 causes better resistance to chromatic aberration and compactness anyway as a record. Great on A7R2 and A7C even better! I recommend buying on amazon the Haoge LH-RX1B square metal lampshon in Leica and Fujifilm style! show! advised!

Pros: Colors, contrast, sharpness, lightness.

Cons: Light ta vignette, easily corrected.

Opinion: I have been using the 35mm f/2.8 Zeiss Sonnar for almost 2 years, in combination with an A7rII, I was immediately fascinated but this micro lens, makes the machine almost invisible, but above all the quality of colors and color rendering is amazing. Sharpness is also excellent and distortion almost non-existent, this quality is important when used in historic centers with small spaces. For me the maximum opening 2.8 is not a problem, it is enough to photograph quietly in dimly lit environments. Some say that the bokeh is not the maximum, of course it is not a 1.4 but, as always, the yield of the blurred depends on the distance from the subject and the background from the latter, for me it is very gradual with very pleasant nuances. The maf is not a problem, the ring is not excessively smooth and well balanced in movement, combined with the peaking of the A7rII is not wrong a shot. I want to end with the fender, small and incredible, it seems impossible that from that slot it is possible to frame the entire field of 35 mm!

Pros: Sharpness, colors, optical correctness, weight, size, build quality

Cons: Price on the new delirious, too small the opening of f/2.8, ta vignetting, old generation autofocus

Opinion: Slow with many positives but as many negatives. The first impression for me is phenomenal: tiny lens, very light despite the metal construction (which I like much more than modern plastic alloys) that still conveys the feeling of having in your hands a quality object, well done. Nice compact lampshed too. You mount it on camera and you don't want to believe it's really that small... Then the pain starts a little bit, because the auto focus is slow. I would not say inaccurate, but only slow. And even the manual MAF, given the small size of the lens, is far from simple and even the ring is a bit inconsistent like many lenses with the ride by wire (if I have to be honest I used it in MF only to try because then it is really uncomfortable). From an optical point of view, however, we return among the strong points. In my view it is excellent for size and weight, a gem. A little soft at TA, but extremely sharp in the f/4-f/8 range. Beautiful colors and contrast for me, at the top of the category, produces vibrant and very pleasant images. Distortion, very small if not non-existent chromatic aberrations, from an optical point of view the only real defect is the vignetting that is intrusive to TA, then improves but is present at almost all openings. This is a useful lens in all situations where you want to be discreet, little visible, light in the backpack NOT photographic, but at the same time produce high quality images. Excellent in urban contexts or for reportage, where hyperfocality and good sharpness are exploited. Of course with the small maximum aperture of f/2.8 you can not think of high-level bokeh or off-top of the imperious floors, just as it is not the maximum in a little light (for this reason it is better to combine it with the A7 series where you can climb with ISOs without too much fear). The price on the new is something crazy and senseless, to be teased. On the used is located around 400-450 euros representing a good purchase for those who know the lens they buy and do not seek the perfection of an Art or the speed of MAF of a GM but also wants to have a hint of the Zeiss yield. Contact me without any problems for more information.

Pros: Compactness, colors, image quality

Cons: Only 2.8

Opinion: Very compact and structurally gives me a better feeling than the 35 2.8 samyang I tried a short time ago. Nice colors, beautiful blurred up close. I don't like wide lenses especially if voluminous, so for me this 35 is perfect. I would have preferred it to be 2 and not 2.8 but I do not make a portrait use of it, I do not look for bokeh in this focal. In focal 85/100/135/200 yes. On a 35 no. Very recommended.
