Pros: Speed, compactness, key customization, resolution, APSC function, controls.

Cons: Price

Opinion: I recently bought this flagship, I am very satisfied, in addition to using the 200/600 sony I discovered that with the LEA5 adapter you can mount all the Minolta lenses and have the focus on the whole sensor even with the 135 zeiss unlike the A9ii with which you have to use the LEA4 adaptation and you have the translucent mirror and focus only on the 15 central points, practically I have all the goals better than new. The 1,4 and 2 x minolta multipliers do not go, but the Sigmas go. It was a big surprise as I own the 600f/4 the 400f/4.5 the 300/2.8 and the 80/200 f/2.8 and they all work great. I am very satisfied with the purchase despite the prohibitive price.

Pros: Viewfinder,Ergonomics,Controls,Menu

Cons: Price, like all sony lacks the screen on the shoulder.

Opinion: What can I say, it's the most beautiful Sony I've ever had, and at this price we would miss more.... Excellent ergonomics, control rings similar to Sony A9 that I really like, fully customizable keys, sharp files, fast Autofocus, rarely wrong a focus. If I really have to find a defect, like all Sony missing the monitor on the shoulder, it is something that coming from SLR I will never get used to

Pros: Very high-performance viewfinder, similar to that of a good SLR. Dense stacked sensor, 20 mega crop in the room, lightness and excellent autofocus, improved compared to that of the a9. Commands and customization. Much improved and understandable menu. File quality.

Cons: Battery life without booster. Translation of menu items that is still coarse (e.g. "still image" instead of "photograph").

Opinion: After ten days in the countryside and the development of about twenty files starting from jpeg and / or raw with sony proprietary editor, I got an idea of this ml devoted to action photography. I used the camera with 200-600G. The 30 ft/s is a pleasure for those who have few opportunities in terms of passes in flight. Even at distances of more than 30 meters up to 50 the percentage of sharp photos is very high (compatibly with weather conditions). When a snipe flew towards me, I got 30% sharp shots, a percentage that would have increased if it had passed closer. Autofocus superior for tracking to that of the a9 with good recognition of the eye of birds. During the discharge of the buffer you can change all the commands, passing for example from the crop in the room to full format even with the full buffer. The viewfinder set to 1/250 refresh looks remarkably like a reflex viewfinder. Improved ignition compared to the a9, but still improvable compared to a professional SLR. Autofocus and control responsiveness similar to professional SLRs. The weight of 700 grams is very important for prolonged freehand use. Pairing with 200-600 very recommended, the crop in the room offers a file of about 22 mega to 900 mm, with further possibility of cropping 20% higher than the file of the a9. The use of 1.4x is advisable for stationary subjects, in remote flight it does not seem to improve the detail compared to the crop. Rating 9, but I am very critical. Probably using it with 600 GM the vote would be 10.

Pros: image quality, autofocus, operating speed

Cons: addictive, battery life

Opinion: I was looking at that 8.9 average and I'm sure it depends on some very low grade given by some professor who has not even tried it. Removed this useless premise and after several months of use I can say that I have in my hands the best (for me!) photographic object ever owned so far. This box is a combination of cutting-edge technology, top performance from every point of view. You can do everything, from birdlife weighs to portrait to landscape; it will not be missing in any kind and from any point of view! I also really appreciate the size, I do not like to shoot with a flagship body, if I have to do birdlife I have the battery grip ready while if I go with family I do not ride with a meaningless brick .. for my taste better to add a bg rather than always having fixed a huge flagship body. Here's everything you need from fast autofocus to image quality. It makes you take pictures that used to be much harder to take. Certainly, as I always say, the weak point is me who uses it. Perhaps among the cons if I have to find I say the battery life that compared to a REFLEX is not comparable, true that the monitor and the view finder consume a lot. I give a 9.9 just because perfection does not exist.

Pros: Excellent versatility

Cons: I don't know honestly

Opinion: I think it's a truly all-round machine for professionals and great enthusiasts. Excellent photographic sector as well as the video one. It combines the advantages of the S line, the speed of the 9 and the resolution of the R greatly improving the responsiveness of use. If you do not work on it and therefore do not need the second body, with this one nothing is missing. The files, for the intrinsic characteristics of the project, will not be the top of the top (very little is missing for my needs as an amateur photographer) but the watchword for this box of wonders is Versatility, without giving up a very high IQ. I also really like the new menus but I continue to customize the various shortcuts as I did with the previous Sony owned. In short, if the price is not an obstacle, you can not be disappointed by this first, true, flagship of Sony. P.S.: coupled with the latest GMs (50 1.2 and 70-200) it is addictive.

Pros: Autofocus, resolution, more ergonomic handle, reimagined menus

Cons: Are there any?

Opinion: Previously I had Fuji XT2-XT3-XH1 then Nikon Z7 then Leica Q2-M240-M10 Monochrom and one day I got to try Sony A7RIIIA and it was a great feeling. Sold all the Leica kit and started to have serious fun, then one day at the Sony day in Padua I tried at the A1 and love broke out at first sight. Crazy autofocus and well-balanced resolution to get amazing photos. I combined it with the 24-70 GM and the 100-400 GM and it makes it very well, I also had the 16-35 GM but I did not find myself and I replaced it with the 12-24 GM and I think I have all the focal lengths I need. At the moment the reference point for all the other competitors chasing far back.

Pros: shutter speed, handling, very intuitive menu, AF, compactness and the possibility of customizable settings

Cons: the only drawback is perhaps Sony's desire not to provide it with the classic CFexpress

Opinion: I deal with sports photography and I was lucky enough to try it at the Ice Hockey World Cup in Riga. I was already coming from Sony so everything was very easy and fast, in fact it soon became the main body despite being of the assistance service. The shooting graphics, the quality of the images are not to be questioned. The 50mpx photos, although too much for my field of application, are noticeable in a positive way. The Sony AF I already knew but here they have still improved, perhaps the only real competitor right now you could find it in the R3 (also tested this). The files work very well and allow an easy post-production and a great possibility, there the only thing that is missing is personal experience. Many could criticize it for the absence of integrated batterygrip like the competitors, but for me it is an advantage as it makes the machine particularly compact and comfortable to carry. Compared to the A9ii however the images are not so "sharp", but with 50mpx a little 'is normal. Even at relatively high Iso (indoor sports) the seal is higher than before. Also tested in APS-C, but personally I prefer to shoot and FF and then adjust in PP. It costs a bit but surely it is a must for those who love Sony and work in sports

Pros: Impressive shutter speed (if compared to what is available on the market today), fantastic viewfinder, almost at the reflex level (we are almost at the break-even, finally I would say), comfort of the controls (the control rings are direct, simple, mechanically impeccable and fast in the choices), AF-ON button well sized and preponderant that allows the fast localization of the thumb on the back of the camera. Compactness and constructive accuracy, albeit small, is built like a real flagship (those to which we have been accustomed for years of the former duopoly). Fully programmable and customizable, much more than the competition.

Cons: It needs BG with the use of focal lengths from 70-200mm upwards (when, however, the camera is present, it is always compact even with the grip mounted), non-optimal grip and hardness of the tires (the feeling of the SLRs is missing from this point of view), short battery life (you need two to make a whole day especially if you use the evf for the menus and leave it on to appreciate and resume the scene from display), card compartment not made with first-rate material such as that of the entire room. Sony CFA cards too expensive, we are in the order of 200 euros to buy an 80GB one, which the machine drinks in no time (if set to get the 30 fps continuous) and there is no alternative, except to use the SD that are also fast, but not as fast as the CF.

Opinion: I have been using the machine for about a month, and the peculiarities of the same are strongly presented every time you use it. Speaking of general operation, I recognize an AF never found (effectiveness and speed) to date on any ML, which is the predominant part of the machine, along with the sequence of shots per second that it is capable, really impressive. File a little noisy, comparable to that of A7r4, which rescaling recovers on ISO, immense crop available (for those who do naturalistic or sports, 50mpx so no really many), use in APS, if you need, pressing only a programmable, hyper-technological key, you feel you have in your hands a small PC (there are those who like it or not, I'm getting used to it). Combined with the variety of sharp lenses and in an immense range of focal lengths, including compatible ones, it is today the most attractive and least expensive flagship on the market. Until today, it has been an interesting experience to use it (for now I own only 100-400mm and 200-600mm, the fixed F4 is coming), it is a machine that must be tamed and set well, it is not the classic tip and shoot, but for the purpose in which it was born, it sees the resolution of every possible and encounterable limit during a sequence of shots, thanks to its total versatility in the field. If you can, it is to have, definitively (you will fall in love with it). It is the first ML, which is strongly associated with the operation of a reflex flagship. (and finally I would say). But having and proving much more.

Pros: Af system, burst, ergonomics, improved menu, color finally without that dominant green, dynamic range, resolution

Cons: Held at high ISO (normal for 50mpx), compared to the A7r4 does not change much, for the rest I would say nothing.

Opinion: I arrive at Sony A1 after having Sony A7r3, Sony A9, Sony A6600 and Sony A7r4. This machine packs the best of the A9 and A7r4 both in terms of responsiveness and file quality, even improving color and dynamic range. That's why I decided to buy it with the last kidney left. Seriously, even the ergonomics with the new physical rings and the completely revised menu make the difference. Honestly, however, at the photographic level you do the same things with the A9, even the Eye AF system is certainly cool, it is not infallible and therefore does not improve the accuracy in the photographic sequences compared to an A9, or at least I do not notice tangible improvements. The advantage is to have a7r4 and A9 in a body only slightly improved; in my opinion we do not appreciate substantial differences compared to the 2 machines mentioned above, in particular compared to A9 with regard to AF and reactivity. Cool the sensor cover curtain copied from Canon. The whole video sector, which dramatically increases the overall cost I do not care, so the 7300 euros of price list in my opinion are too many and not justified compared to the 5500 of the A9II. Without getting to spend this money to those who approach Sony for photo hunting I highly recommend u 3300 euros of a Sony A9. Leave this beast to fools like me and professionals.

Pros: i don't find any flaws

Cons: nothing

Opinion: what to say I don't think there's anything like that for the time being. the speed of the AF, the burst, the file with an exceptional dynamic range, as far as the video is concerned I do not pronounce as I do not measure . they added the raw compress that I consider very useful, I have not yet used it with cf cards type a so the buffer for the moment is not as great as that of the A9. the menu is not revolutionary as they said it is still very complicated but not impossible.

Pros: all!

Cons: Only the electronic viewfinder did not improve enough.

Opinion: I am a wedding photographer and I have been waiting for such a camera for a long time, it combines resolution, speed and lightness. The files are workable with great dynamic range like the Sony sisters, and combines an operational speed that is convenient in reportage and fashion work. Improved interface and more intuitive menu, but after creating my mymenu' it no longer has relevance. I shoot everything in raw without compression to get the highest quality. Then for post-production soon the Rawsie software will release the updated version with which it will be possible to import a 30mb file in cameraraw without loss. Happy to own it.
