Opinion: Lens bought many years ago to equip my old Canon 40D as an alternative to the 18-55. Taken used in excellent condition, it immediately proved to be the perfect companion for any photographic outing due to its focal length (obviously on the RIGHT) and weighs relatively little. In addition to what was said before, unfortunately it is a really poorly made lens, poor detail even with a lot of aperture, sharpness equal to the worst 18-55 existing (try it to believe it), it made me throw away a lot of shots as it suffers a lot from chromatic aberrations, in some cases absolutely irretrievable. It also suffers from flare but here it is partly justified. If you use it towards sunset, however, the situation improves a little. At night with some high-performance DX body that holds high ISO well then it is good for some "starry" and various startrails, but it is not a bright lens. Excellent for starting to shoot and spending little and having something vaguely better and wider-angle than the kit lens, but otherwise I strongly advise against it. My specimen, on New Year's Eve 2018, while I was doing a nice night to the stars and fireworks, after a gust of wind flew to the ground, broke both in front (the plastic ring) and also the focus ring and also the autofocus, in short today I keep it as a souvenir and as a paperweight, a task that it performs absolutely better than what it was born for.

What can I say, it has a focal range for me perfect for architectural photos (equivalent to 15-30 on FF) with excellent sharpness in the center. Less positive but acceptable distortion, quite present and vignetting. On the other hand, the sharpness at the edges is poor, even if the diaphragm is very much, but these are things that are only seen on the monitor, printing at reasonable sizes is more than acceptable. Recommended nowadays if you find it used at a good price.
