Pros: Low coma, sharp corner to cover, even at F/2.4

Cons: Price $990

Opinion: Had the opportunity to thoroughly test this lens for astrophotography and landscape photography during my recent trip to Hawaii and later locally in Texas. Very sharp lens, corner to cover, even wide open at F/2.4, low coma as expected, but significantly less distortion than the original Samyang/Rokinon 14mm F/2.8. Solid build, smooth, long throw focus ring, manual focus. See photos samples in my photo galleries

Pros: Very good sharpness at TA, one blade when you close the aperture

Cons: Dimensions and weight

Opinion: I bought this glass because I was uncovered below the 24mm of the standard zoom and I must say that I am satisfied with it. with focus peaking focusing is a walk in the park (R6) and it has always made me bring home excellent photos. I put it on sale to switch to a more versatile zoom, but I'm still quite undecided whether to keep it or not because it does its job and also quite well. The price of the new one is high, I bought it used -immaculate- I don't remember if at 600 or 650€. paid an even lower amount is an optic to have in support of noteworthy night landscapes.

Pros: Sharpness from 2.8 onwards, solid construction, distortion contained compared to the previous version, the fire indefinitely falls right on the stamped notch. Very small coma at the edges.

Cons: Lack of tropicalization, weight, price.

Opinion: I too have replaced the old version 2.8 with this one and found a marked improvement in image quality. I chose this, compared to the Sigma 14mm Art, because it weighs 1/3 less, costs half and gives average overlapping performance (and edges, perhaps, even better). The sharpness at 2.4 is only discreet, but improves a lot at 2.8 to be perfect from f4 onwards. The distortion is very contained compared to the old version. The flare is contained but still present, but it is normal for this type of lenses with a domed frontal element. The rubber of the focus barrel is constantly filled with dust and you can hardly remove it, but it is a feature that also have the latest Zeiss Milvus (which I am lucky enough to own). Finally, the endless fire falls exactly on the symbol stamped on the barrel (at least on my specimen). Slow still great. I'm recommending it!

Pros: Really sharpness on par with more emlasic and expensive goals

Cons: At the moment nothing, except that the infinity like many of this lens is not at the end of the race, but a hair before.

Opinion: I bought this lens to use it on the Nikon D850, mainly to use it I hope, next January in Iceland for the Northern Lights. This does not detract from the fact that I will use it when necessary on other occasions, using filters, so I also purchased the holder Nisi for 150x150 plates. These days I have thoroughly tested it and was surprised by the sharpness and resolution, superior to the tamron 15-30 that I use as usual. What surprised me was that by making a 100% crop on which I made another 100% crop, the image remained a disarming sharpness, really a very good lens to have. Of course it can't be used like any wide angle, but its 14mm aperture and 2.4mm brightness make it one of the best around in its range and I recommend it, you won't regret it.

Pros: Extraordinary sharpness, solid mechanical construction. Perfectly fluid focus ring.

Cons: Smooth finish of the lampshed too delicate. The tire of the focus ring retains dust. Bad front cap. Color rendering with too hot hue. Lack of tropicalization. Lack of Sony attack version.

Opinion: I replaced the good Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Asph with this lens about a year ago and I must say that I was immediately impressed by the optical quality. I used it on a Canon 5D Mark III and now on a Sony A7r III that allows me to appreciate its qualities even more. The sharpness is impeccable throughout the area (I tried it with openings up to f16). The distortion for me is absent. Very contained flare. The focus ring is a bit soft but I learned to appreciate it as it allows me to easily perform focus stacking to increase the depth of field on the close-ups Unfortunately it has some incomprehensible flaws for me and I wonder how it is possible that they escaped the manufacturer. The plastic material of the fixed lampshon scratches easily and charges electrostatically (but could not use the one always?). The front cap is made with a bad plastic that like the lampshon charges electrostatically, does not easily release and marks the lampshed at the contact points. The tire of the focus barrel fills with adhesion dust and you can hardly clean it (but what was the need to do it smoothly, they could not make it zigzagged as it has always been done?). I've made up for it with horrible rounds of tape waiting to find a nicer solution. But for me the most difficult defect to accept is the warm shade, which moreover also had the previous one. On interior photos, nocturnal or "autumn" scenes goes unnoticed but on the blue skies it takes a lot of time in post production to correct it and you do not always succeed. Despite these negative notes I remain enthusiastic about its optical qualities.
