Pros: Low coma, sharp corner to cover, even at F/2.4

Cons: Price $990

Opinion: Had the opportunity to thoroughly test this lens for astrophotography and landscape photography during my recent trip to Hawaii and later locally in Texas. Very sharp lens, corner to cover, even wide open at F/2.4, low coma as expected, but significantly less distortion than the original Samyang/Rokinon 14mm F/2.8. Solid build, smooth, long throw focus ring, manual focus. See photos samples in my photo galleries

Pros: Sharpness from 2.8 onwards, solid construction, distortion contained compared to the previous version, the fire indefinitely falls right on the stamped notch. Very small coma at the edges.

Cons: Lack of tropicalization, weight, price.

Opinion: I too have replaced the old version 2.8 with this one and found a marked improvement in image quality. I chose this, compared to the Sigma 14mm Art, because it weighs 1/3 less, costs half and gives average overlapping performance (and edges, perhaps, even better). The sharpness at 2.4 is only discreet, but improves a lot at 2.8 to be perfect from f4 onwards. The distortion is very contained compared to the old version. The flare is contained but still present, but it is normal for this type of lenses with a domed frontal element. The rubber of the focus barrel is constantly filled with dust and you can hardly remove it, but it is a feature that also have the latest Zeiss Milvus (which I am lucky enough to own). Finally, the endless fire falls exactly on the symbol stamped on the barrel (at least on my specimen). Slow still great. I'm recommending it!

Pros: Really sharpness on par with more emlasic and expensive goals

Cons: At the moment nothing, except that the infinity like many of this lens is not at the end of the race, but a hair before.

Opinion: I bought this lens to use it on the Nikon D850, mainly to use it I hope, next January in Iceland for the Northern Lights. This does not detract from the fact that I will use it when necessary on other occasions, using filters, so I also purchased the holder Nisi for 150x150 plates. These days I have thoroughly tested it and was surprised by the sharpness and resolution, superior to the tamron 15-30 that I use as usual. What surprised me was that by making a 100% crop on which I made another 100% crop, the image remained a disarming sharpness, really a very good lens to have. Of course it can't be used like any wide angle, but its 14mm aperture and 2.4mm brightness make it one of the best around in its range and I recommend it, you won't regret it.

Pros: Extraordinary sharpness, solid mechanical construction.

Cons: I find it very bad to choose the smooth finish of the plastic fixed lampshade because it is too delicate. The rubber of the focus barrel retains the dust. Bad front cap protection. Color yield with too warm shade. Perfectly smooth focus, but to my taste a little soft. Lack of tropicalization. Lack Sony attack version.

Opinion: I replaced the good Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Asph with this lens about a year ago and I must say I was impressed by the optical quality. I used it on a Canon 5D Mark III and now on a Sony A7r III that allows me to appreciate its qualities even more. The sharpness is unimpeachable over the whole area (I tried it with openings up to f16). The distortion is absent for me. Flare very contained. Unfortunately, however, it has some flaws, incomprehensible to me and I wonder how it is possible that they escaped the manufacturer. The plastic material of the fixed lampshade easily scratches and charges electrostatically (but could not use the same one of always?). The front cap is made with a very bad plastic that, like the lampshade, is electrostatically charged, does not release easily and marks the lampshade at the points of contact. The rubber of the focus barrel fills with dust that adheres and you can hardly clean (but what need was there to make it smooth, they could not make it zigrinated as it always did?). I made up for it with some horrible turns of duct tape waiting to find a nicer solution. But the most difficult flaw to accept is the warm shade, which also had the previous one. On interior, night photos or "autumn" scenes goes unnoticed but on the blue skies it takes a lot of time in post production to correct it and you do not always succeed. Despite these negative notes I remain enthusiastic about its optical qualities.

Pros: Sharpness, solidity of construction, precision, infinite focus, almost no distortion.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I purchased this lens on Nikon D750 for my trip to Norway to photograph the Northern Lights. I was immediately fascinated at the first glance, very precise lens in the focus at infinity as it corresponds exactly to the end of the ring. The sharpness is really good and even the colors are realistic, almost no distortion that is present in the previous model. The aperture at f / 2.4 is very useful in astronomical photography. Coma absent on the stars especially when compared to other more expensive objectives. Value for money from number one. I would buy it again.
