Pros: Really good image quality and sharpness, Almost a "MACRO" Tele, Truly unique lens (a 100-400 equivalent with an aperture of f2.8-4 stabilized and multiplicable is not found elsewhere), Incredible size and weight (in relation to the focal aperture), Top build quality, Perfect focal range for a not too pushed Tele: You will want to always carry it with you!

Cons: Decidedly high price (but in line with the quality), the fact that it becomes f4 too quickly, and perhaps the fact that the zoom is not internal and the lens extends (but it would not have been so small)

Opinion: This is really one of those lenses that makes you fall in love with the Micro 4/3 system, because you understand that an equivalent 100-400mm, with an aperture of f2.8-4, with this optical quality and these compact dimensions and weights, is simply not found elsewhere, period! I have used it little yet to draw a detailed analysis, but I can confirm that the optical quality such as sharpness, blur, colors etc, is really a PRO lens, and has nothing to envy to the most famous Tele FF: it has a reproduction ratio of 0.50x which on other lenses makes them MACRO (as for the Sony G 70-200 f4 II), and therefore allows you to be very creative and greatly increases its flexibility. The size and weight then, in relation to the type of lens, are unique: it is a Tele quite pushed that you will always want to carry it with you for safety, since it is easily inserted in your camera bag! (I also remind everyone that this is also one of the few lenses that can be multiplied with Panasonic's 1.4x or 2.0x teleconverters...) The AF (with the latest update, tested with my G9II) is great and hardly misses, always remaining silent as highlighted by others! The fact that it is stabilized and usable in Dual IS with the IBIS of Panasonic bodies makes it perfect even in video, with perfectly stable and usable shots. I think it's the optics that will make you fall in love with this type of lens, there's little else to say! The only real con for me is the price which is not low, since less than 1600 euros FOWA warranty is now almost impossible to find, but as already said, it is a price that is "justified" by the type of lens: it does not seem to me that other 100-400 "PRO" of other systems with a "similar" focal aperture cost less on the contrary...! Even the fact that they consider it as, in practice, "a constant f4 lens" for me is absolutely not true: even if it is 2.8 in practice only at 50mm and soon becomes an f4 certainly not the best, but it still allows you to have more brightness when you are not at maximum excursion! The other note is the fact that it has no internal Zoom, but even there for me it is a "non" defect since otherwise it would have been much larger, and in any case it is always a tropicalized lens and therefore easily usable even in a light rain!! Ultimately, a must have lens in my opinion, for those who have Panasonic bodies like the G9 II and want a definitive telephoto lens (there would also be the 100-400mm II, but I definitely preferred this one, both for the smaller size and higher brightness, and to make an ideal "COMBO" with my 8-18mm 2.8-4 and the 12-60mm 2.8-4 always branded PanaLeica)!!

Pros: Lightness and very small size, colors, silence, focus speed, stabilization

Cons: Zooming, cost

Opinion: I had the fantastic Olympus 40-150 2.8 with multiplier 1.4, but I found an opportunity to take this lens without adding one euro, selling the other. For now I am not regretted the change, although I must say that overall maybe the Olympus has something more as results. The Panaleica, however, is really much lighter and portable, I did not believe so much, which is the main reason why I changed it. In addition, compared to the Olympus, I like much more the more "delicate" rendering in the portraits. I was very amazed by the quality and fidelity of the colors, the absolute silence and the instant speed of focus. As for stabilization, already with my GX8 which is only Dual IS, it is already remarkable. Like the Olympus it can also be used to make semi-macro photos. Recommended!

Pros: Dimensions and weight at focal and opening. Close-up of 6.5 cm.

Cons: Price.

Opinion: I often turn to fields and woods around the house in the country; My problem (I consider myself a traveling photographer) is to pass from wanting to photograph a fawn, then a Jay and, finally, a butterfly or any insect nearby. So far I adapted with 12-100 for butterflies and insects and 75-300 (which I used up to 200mm as it becomes more soft) for birdlife. The 50-200 makes me the ideal lens for this genre; At the maximum focal photographer (as close-up) 6.5 cm in width (col 12-100 I arrived at 7.5) and I have 200mm brighter than almost one and a half stops of the 75-300. Making direct comparisons with 12-100 and 75-300 to me results (a TA for all): a 50mm slightly lower than 12-100; A 100mm better than 12-100 and equal to 75-300; 150mm and 200mm substantially equal to the 75-300. All the minimum differences I have noticed, however, enlarged at least 200%, and taking into account that with 75-300 I have "cannato" more photos than Col 50-200, both as MAF and as a micro-blur. I do not practice the street but, by eye, it seems a suitable target.
