Pros: Sharp, light and compact, with very effective stabilizer (5 EV), excellent focal range (corresponding to 27-210 on FF), minimum almost macro focusing distance

Cons: Expensive if purchased new, dimly lit on the telephoto side, lens hood not included

Opinion: Recently purchased, used as new, for my Nikon Z50! It's a great lens that's very versatile, especially when you have to travel light. Super zoom from moderate wide-angle (27mm equivalent on FF) to good telephoto (210 mm, also on FF) in less than 10 cm in length and 315 g. in weight. Excellent stabilizer and excellent image quality even at full aperture. A bit dark on the telephoto side (f/6.3 maximum at 140mm), it does not have a built-in lens hood but you have to buy it separately. The price of the new one is a bit too high. Overall, though, it's a great compromise between image quality, versatility, and portability. Rating 9-9.5

Pros: Sharpness, focal range, flare resistance, compact, excellent stabilization

Cons: Not part 16 mm, dark on the canvas side

Opinion: Purchased in a bundle with the Z50 at a bargain price (the Z50 II had just come out and they were probably giving away the leftovers), together they form a combination that allows you to photograph in most situations that can be found on the road. Compact, light, with a focal range that allows you to go from city views to the details of a cathedral, too bad it doesn't start from 16mm, otherwise it would have been really perfect. Nikon on its website declares it weatherproof (unlike what is written here on the Juza sheet), so it is possible to carry it with you even when the conditions are not optimal. It is not very bright on the telephoto side, but it partly compensates with the excellent optical stabilization, which allows you to shoot safely at 1/15 of a second at 140 mm. Sharp enough at all focal lengths and wide aperture, together with the 12-28 it forms a complete zoom kit for the photographer traveler without too many needs. For me I vote 9.

Pros: Sharpness, weight

Cons: Price a bit too high

Opinion: I own uma D7100 with AF-s 18-140 lens. Buying a new mirrorless Z50 I thought of using it with the FTZ adapter. Everything works well but the added weight and the less manageability, pushed me to buy the new Z 18-140. I can therefore compare these two lenses, which are a bit the "workhorse" for trips and excursions. The new Z 18-140 is much better; Sharp even at full aperture and extreme focal lengths. The stabilizer works well, I shot with 1/30 s at 140 mm and there was no shake. At 18 mm it distorts very little, and does not cartoon. I have not had the opportunity to try it to verify the presence or absence of flare, but I think that even on this we can be sure. Some might say that it is "plastic" and with a non-metallic bayonet, but in my opinion these are just prejudices: in practice I have not seen photographers with bayonets in their hands for having changed lenses too many times. At full aperture at maximum focal length is "dark"? like all objectives of this category; the excellent sensor and the processor if necessary allow you to raise the ISO and the stabilizer does the rest. I did not give 10 because in my opinion it is a bit 'overpriced.

Pros: Sharpness, lightness, compactness

Cons: Lack of hood

Opinion: Perfect optics for trips where you need to stay light and compact. Quite sharp at all focal lengths, in some situations very sharp. Perfect construction, it is plastic yes, but seriously are we still so far behind that we consider it disgusting? As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't make me feel the lack of metal. Very very interesting this lens, if you need a light all-rounder and that makes you take home the result ALWAYS this lens is great!

Pros: Lightness, compactness, focal range, flare resistance.

Cons: Brightness, but you can't have it all.

Opinion: I have had this perspective for a few days and I have had the opportunity to try it a little in all circumstances. It's the death of the Z50. The perfect match for a walk. The lens is light but well built, the resistance that the zoom ring offers is optimal without the need for the aperture shot of the 16-50 and 50-250. Sharpness is good for the price range. The colors more than dignified and, magic, while shooting against the light from any angle and focal length I have never had any reflection. The stabilizer works very well. Finding a fault is really hard... maybe it loses a bit of sharpness at longer focal lengths but it's there. I am fully satisfied with the results it offers, I think I made a great purchase.
